Gomes Court Victory - Judge Orders New Primary
Bridgeport, CT - Today, Superior Court Judge William Clark ruled in favor of the plaintiff, John Gomes, "with respect to violations of CT General Statutes 9-140b in the mishandling of absentee ballots."
The judgement states, "The Court orders a new primary for the Democratic party nomination for mayor of the city of Bridgeport shall be held. The clerk of the court is directed to certify this decision to the Secretary of the State."
Judge Clark further stated in his decision that, "The number of ballots at issue when considering the corroborating evidence of the videos, documentary evidence, and calculation which show a large number of votes in drop boxes and a large percentage of absentee votes in districts connected to Ms. Geter-Pataky and Ms. Martinez, along with the negative inference to be drawn against their preferred candidate, Mr. Ganim, brings reliability of the primary into serious doubt."
Gomes stated, "This is a victory for the people of Bridgeport. Our campaign always believed that the integrity of our democratic process must be upheld and Superior Court Judge William Clark agreed."
Primary results due to absentee ballot issues in Bridgeport elections have also been overturned in 2022 and in 2017.

Gomes concluded, "Thank you all for your unwavering support during the legal proceedings involving absentee ballot fraud and injunctive relief. Attorney Bloss presented a compelling argument and the court agreed in the memorandum of decision. "Nearly everyone who looked at the videos was shocked as Judge Clark" Bloss stated in the CT Mirror article. "An election won by breaking the rules isn't a fair election."
The fight for electoral reform and justice in the Park City continues with a new Democratic Primary.
