Gomes Releases Good Government Contract
Bridgeport, CT - John Gomes, Bridgeport Mayoral candidate, released his Good Government Contract that outlines ideas that will help end the current dysfunctional policies and scandal that plague City Hall.
"Honesty, integrity, and transparency begins at the top. In order to create thoughtful oversight and achieve governance the people can trust, a change in leadership is needed. The top priorities of a John Gomes Administration include cultivating a culture of efficiency, providing sound fiscal management, and ensuring transparency is of the utmost importance in all management decisions. This is my contract with you, the people of Bridgeport."
To promote a Culture of Efficiency & Transparency, and Sound Fiscal Management Practices, the following summary of policies are proposed:

Conduct a Forensic Audit with a credible independent agency in order to create a path for true financial stability and solvency.

Crafting a Real Budget that Accurately Reflects Expenses and Revenues. Eliminating wasteful spending, removing "ghost" and "no show" positions will be the new standard.

Restoring trust in the Personnel Department that has been rocked by scandal, by hiring based on job qualifications and following civil service rules and testing.

Examine the effects of 'one-time’ revenue gimmicks on the city budget such as the use of ARPA funds for the ‘pending Sikorsky airport sale’ and other projects.

Integrate the Chief Administrative Office and the Mayor’s Office to work in collaboration to ensure that we are doing the best we can for the residents of Bridgeport.

Comply with state transparency laws by ending the stonewalling of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests that are backlogged in the City Attorney's Office by directing the relevant department heads to complete requests and hold them accountable.
Gomes concluded, "Investment within and outside the city will not take place until we get our house in order. The restoration of trust in Bridgeport Government is vital to the future growth of our city."
