Hello Quilters!

We have had a whirlwind of a month!    Everyone was so ready to get out and shop with some great girlfriends- making the recent 7-stop shop hop a great time and great success.    We met so many wonderful new friends….and had so many compliments, we are pretty sure our egos are ready to burst!   So, thanks to everyone that visited.  We hope you all found some amazing inspiration from these awesome shops.  Isn’t it fun how every shop is so different – different displays, different fabrics and patterns??  Consider it practice for the All-Iowa Shop Hop during June and July!

A big thanks to Joanne for telling us all about one of her favorite Iowa designers last month – Canuck Quilters / Joanne Kerton.  So unique – and exploring her on-line resources are so inspirational.    I hope you have had the opportunity to browse on your own.   This month we have another Midwest designer to highlight – dare I say another one of our favorites?   Leanne will be spotlighting Jill Shaulis, the designer behind Yellow Creek Designs.   Jill calls Pearl City, Illinois home – and has a storefront there, as well as designing patterns and fabric for Robert Kaufman.   Jill features wool and a primitive/traditional style – but her designs are gorgeous made up in any colorway.    We can’t wait to share!

Remember – if you have made a project from either of these featured designers, bring along to share!

Last month we had a lot of fun showing what we had done with those poor under-loved fat quarters – true to form, everyone had a great time playing along.    And I can’t let you go without another challenge, right?    So – our challenge for May is “shape-shifters” – we want to see shapes other than squares and rectangles!   Can be triangles, hexagons, circles, APPLIQUE, anything you imagine – but the main design shouldn’t be squares and/or rectangles.  No rules as far as size, color, quilted or unquilted….just your interpretation, using a different shape.

A quick reminder – pack up your projects, grab a friend, and join us Saturday, April 24 for a Pack Your Project Party…..letting us pamper you for the day with wonderful food and fellowship.   No laundry, no dishes, no grocery shopping….just a great relaxing day to sew uninterrupted.   The space is limited but the good times aren’t!   Call the shop to reserve your table today.

I should also confess…..I took my winter coat to the cleaners, as I thought it was the end of the season….my fault for the cold spell.   But means more sewing time, right??  Grab a friend and join us Tuesday night – because we will be “Gone Quilting”.
