Quilters:

It was so good to see all the happy faces last month, even though the weather was nasty!    We are such hardy souls!   Sometimes, you just have to get out and go….as we have been cooped up for too long.

We are pretty excited to be kicking off a new year with our Gone Quilting friends.   Keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to meet each month to share our joy in this addictive habit of ours.    I think we started off pretty good – sharing our long-range plans for the programs this year as issuing the first challenge of 2021.   For those of you that weren’t able to attend, I handed out some interesting fat quarters…..with zero directions.   “Make something of these poor things!” was the only rule.  If you missed our January gathering, it is not too late…..I have a few more lonely fat quarters left.    We will be anxiously awaiting their return in their final glory in March.   You guys never fail to amaze the rest of us!

In January, we learned more about one of our favorite designers – Terry Atkinson of Atkinson Designs.   Throughout the year, we will be spotlighting designers from Iowa or adjoining states – and boy, there are a lot!  In February, Carol Dighton will be sharing one of her personal favorites – Sandy Gervais of Pieces From My Heart.  She not only has her popular pattern company but is also a fabric designer with Riley Blake.   We are excited to feature Sandy, as she is the designer behind our Block of the Month that will be rolling out by the end of March.   She is not a new designer to The Quiltmaker’s Shoppe, as we have carried her fabric and patterns over the years.   If you have made any of her designs, or used her fabric, we would invite you to bring it along to share.    And if you got home last month and said, “boy!  I have made several of Atkinson Designs after all.”, bring them along to share as well!   Oohing and aahing is what we do best.

One thing to note – with our Iowa winters…..in the past, we have followed the local school schedule in the event of a cancellation.   That means that if West Delaware School is canceled for the day due to inclement weather/conditions, we would cancel Gone Quilting.   We will also announce it on our Facebook, but if in doubt, give a call to confirm before heading out.   Let’s hope we are all Gone Quilting next Tuesday!
