Congratulations, Isaiah!
Certified Construction Safety and Health Specialist
Our Safety Coordinator Isaiah Coltey recently completed the Construction Safety and Health Specialist Certification Program through Keene State College’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center.

This program, which requires more than 8 courses and 170 contact hours, is designed to improve the skills and knowledge of those with safety and health responsibilities on the job.
Isaiah began his certification as quickly as possible after joining Casella Construction, to help him gain added understanding of safety not only in construction, but in all areas throughout the company. He began his first class on January 12, 2021 and completed his certification on May 5th, 2021 - thanks to support from Casella Construction and his supervisor Joe Matteri.

Next up, Isaiah will work to complete the Certified Safety and Health Official for Construction - which he is now only 5 classes (and some experience) away from completing!
Congratulations, Isaiah and we look forward to celebrating more certifications in the future!
Chocking, Parking & Unattended Equipment
On April 19, 2021, a miner stopped his haul truck in front of his personal vehicle to get his lunch. While standing and eating his lunch, the haul truck rolled forward, pinning the miner between the haul truck and his personal truck. This resulted in a fatality.

While this was at a mine site and did not involve anyone at Casella Construction, the potential for this type of accident could happen anywhere, and we can learn others' mistakes:
Do not leave mobile equipment unattended unless the controls are placed in the park position and the brake is set.

When parking mobile equipment on a grade, chock the wheels or turn them into a bank. Maintain equipment braking systems in good repair and adjustment.

Position yourself in a safe location away from potential “danger-zone” areas.

Before raising equipment to begin maintenance put the vehicle in park, chock wheels, and ensure the parking brake is set.
Please be vigilant and stay safe.

Great Work Maintenance Team!
Shout-out to the maintenance crew from one of our own!
Chris Kallen reached out to John Casella II to let him know how happy he was with the condition of a vehicle after it went into the shop for service work.
Great job maintenance team! Thank you for all of your hard work.
Good Catch Winner of the Month
Congrats Scott Lancour!
While acting as the top spotter at an excavation, Scott noticed a weak spot in the bench of the excavation. Scott warned the worker in the excavation to get out - and shortly after that, part of the excavation came loose and slid in.
Great job, Scott! Enjoy your $100 gift card.
Thank you for your hard work and for helping to keep your co-workers safe!
