Kansas Department of Labor Update on Unemployment Insurance
The Chamber had a conversation with Secretary Delia Garcia and UI Director Laurel Klein Searles of the Kansas Department of Labor . Phillip Hayes of The Arnold Group joined Andrew Wiens, VP of Government Relations and Jason Watkins, Chamber Legislative Consultant, to ask questions on behalf of the Wichita business community. Three takeaways from the video include:
  • The most efficient ways for employers and employees to files for unemployment
  • CARES Act changes that Congress made to the program in regards to the time and amount
  • The differences between furloughs, shared work programs and lay-offs in regards to unemployment benefits
