Second Harvest Bayou Warehouse

On June 17, Bayou Community Foundation board members, staff and volunteers toured the new Second Harvest Food Bank - Feeding South Louisiana Bayou Warehouse on Hollywood Drive in Houma.

We had an inside look at where volunteers will pack meals, the massive storage and distribution areas and the site of the future community kitchen. Second Harvest leaders also shared how this facility will play a vital role in addressing food insecurity across our bayou region through strengthened partnerships with local food pantries and expanded local distributions.

Second Harvest will celebrate the grand opening of the facility with a special event July 30.

BCF Working Group on Hunger Holds

Disaster Preparedness Meeting

On June 24, Bayou Community Foundation's Working Group on Hunger came together for a meaningful discussion on disaster preparedness and emergency planning for food distribution partners.

We toured the new Second Harvest Bayou Warehouse and heard from Second Harvest Food Bank, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, and Terrebonne Churches United Food Bank about what to expect before, during and after an emergency, who to contact, and how we can collaborate to serve our Bayou Region when it matters most.

BCF Expands Bayou Region Food Bank Directory

Do you or the clients you serve need help finding food assistance? Bayou Community Foundation's Bayou Region Food Bank Directory is here to help!

Now with a new, easy-to-use distribution calendar and interactive online map you can easily and quickly find food banks, pantries, and distribution sites in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle.

Within both the online map and calendar, you'll find food bank and pantry service details and contact information so you can get the help you need, when you need it most.

Whether you are a neighbor looking for support or a nonprofit looking to guide clients, these tools make finding food assistance faster and easier.

BCF Launches Nonprofit Event Calendar

Launched in July 2025, the Bayou Community Foundation Bayou Region Nonprofit Event Calendar highlights charitable events hosted by nonprofit organizations serving Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle.

This calendar will help local nonprofits coordinate and plan the timing of their fundraising events while offering potential donors and attendees a clear view of upcoming opportunities to support the Bayou Region through their participation and giving.

BCF's Invites Church and Faith-Based Leaders to Join Us for "Prepared to Serve: A Faith-Based Disaster Preparedness Workshop"

In partnership with Volunteer Louisiana and the Bayou Area Regional Recovery-BARR, Bayou Community Foundation is excited to invite church and faith-based leaders to join us for "Prepared to Serve: A Faith-Based Disaster Preparedness Workshop".

This FREE interactive workshop equips participants with the tools and strategies needed to respond effectively when disaster strikes. Learn about your role in parish volunteer and donation plans, explore the VOAD coordination model, and take part in hands-on planning activities. You'll walk away with a practical Church Readiness Checklist and next steps for action.
