BCF's 2025 Nonprofit Grants

Already Making an Impact in the Bayou Region

Path of Life Recovery, Inc. was awarded a $10,000 grant in Bayou Community Foundation's 2025 Nonprofit Grants Program to furnish the new POLR House in Thibodaux, providing recovery-focused transitional housing, counseling, job training, and other support to local women. Director Jeff Walthers recently shared an update with us on the grant's impact.

"Thank you for believing and investing in the mission. It really was a boost to us and the funds helped turn the house into a home for our ladies transitioning out of incarceration and back into the community as healed, whole, and productive members who, in turn, make things better for others.

"We are humbled to have been in the company of so many difference-makers in our region." - Jeff Walthers

Our first two ladies are already progressing well!

They have started new jobs after being with us less than 2 weeks. Already, we see positive change in both—healing is happening and hope is increasing. We will be accepting 4 more ladies in the coming weeks.

Being able to be at the grant ceremony was an eye opener for us. It made us aware of the great nonprofits in our area and all that they offer. There are some we hope to collaborate with to improve and develop the services we offer."

BCF's "Clicks for a Cause" Cohort Celebrates Achievements

This week, Bayou Community Foundation concluded “Clicks for a Cause: Mastering Digital Communications for Nonprofits,” a cohort training led by Laura Siu Nguyen, MA of Tablestory Comms and sponsored by LA Blue.

Over the course of four sessions, 20 local nonprofit leaders learned how to:

  • Build stronger connections with clients, donors, volunteers and the community
  • Create content that inspires action
  • Use social media, websites and email to grow support

The sessions provided hands-on strategies that organizations can begin using immediately to share their stories, reach more supporters and amplify their impact across the Bayou Region.

BCF is proud to invest in the growth of our local nonprofits and provide opportunities for them to develop the skills they need to thrive!

BCF Executive Director Featured on

Delta Dispatches Podcast

Bayou Community Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Armand recently joined Simone Maloz, Campaign Director of Restore the Mississippi River Delta and host of the Delta Dispatches podcast, to share how BCF and our nonprofit partners are working together to strengthen Louisiana’s Bayou Region.

Marking 20 years since Hurricane Katrina and Rita, Jennifer recounted the efforts to establish Bayou Community Foundation in the wake of those storms, and highlighted BCF's continued work to strengthen our community’s resilience after Hurricanes Ida and Francine through the Rebuild the Bayou program; the Foundation's work to address housing, mental health and food insecurity; and more ways BCF works to build the capacity of our local nonprofits and address critical needs.

BCF and A Place of Restoration Partner to

Help Local Family Stay Safe and Dry

Bayou Community Foundation is so grateful to the incredible volunteers from A Place of Restoration for partnering with BCF to install a tarp on the roof of a Thibodaux home belonging to one of BCF's Rebuild the Bayou applicants.

The home’s roof, damaged by Hurricane Francine, was leaking during recent rainstorms, and this quick, generous action will keep the family safe and dry until permanent repairs can be made.

This act of kindness is just one example of how BCF's Rebuild the Bayou Housing Recovery program brings together volunteers, partners and donors to help families recover and rebuild after disasters.

ANCHOR Program Manager Participates in

Community Ideas Workshop for Coastal Projects

Program Manager Elizabeth Daigle attended the Community Ideas Workshop for Coastal Projects with Restore the Mississippi River Delta at LUMCON’s Blueworks on September 10, where she promoted participation in our ANCHOR the Bayou community survey.

ANCHOR (Assessing Needs and Capacity in Historically Overlooked Regions of the Bayou) is a project of BCF and The Water Institute of the Gulf focused on developing a strategic plan and pilot projects to address community needs and build resilience in southern Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.

Over 250 residents participated in the ANCHOR survey, and focus groups will be conducted October 6 and 7 to dive deeper into the needs identified.
