BCF Grant Funds Nonprofits on the

Front Lines of Hunger

Our local nonprofits are working hard to feed our neighbors in need, and thanks to the kindness and generosity of our donors and partners, Bayou Community Foundation is grateful to support this important work!

Through a donor directed gift to the Second Harvest Fund, BCF provided a grant to Second Harvest Food Bank to fund critical equipment and supplies for two Bayou Region food pantry partners - Firm Foundation of Houma and Concerned Citizens of Gibson.

Three days a week, the friendly staff of the Firm Foundation of Houma serves 40 adults a day with hot meals, access to laundry facilities, counseling, and other life-changing resources. BCF's grant through Second Harvest funded a refrigerator/freezer and utility cart for this homeless day shelter, essential additions for the shelter's busy kitchen.

The Concerned Citizens of Gibson began as a disaster response partner of Second Harvest during HurricaneIda. Now, as a full brick-and-mortar food pantry, the nonprofit assists more than 200 of our neighbors facing food insecurity every month. BCF was honored to provide a grant for shelving units, folding chairs, and folding tables—simple but vital tools that help them serve the community they love.

BCF's Second Harvest Bayou Fund is Helping Feed OUR Bayou Communities

Every gift to BCF’s Second Harvest Bayou Fund goes directly to feeding residents in OUR bayou communities. Your donation funds the large purchases of food and critical infrastructure at local Second Harvest food pantry partners that serve our local residents in need.

BCF Workshop Empowers Nonprofit Leaders, Staff and Volunteers to DREAM BIG

On June 10, Bayou Community Foundation's "Empowered to Dream" workshop gave nonprofit leaders, staff, and volunteers the space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the dreams that drive them both personally and professionally.

Guided by Kellie Duhon, Corporate Giving Manager at Louisiana Blue, participants embarked on a powerful journey of rediscovery—reflecting on where we’ve been, where we’re headed, and the dreams that continue to light our way

BCF is extremely grateful to Louisiana Blue and Woodside Energy for sponsoring this special workshop and investing in the individuals who are making positive change happen across our precious Bayou Region.

BCF Staff Participates in Gulf Resilience Panel Addressing Impacts of Natural Disasters on Health and Wellness

On June 5, Bayou Community Foundation Program Manager Elizabeth Daigle participated in a panel discussion at the Gulf Resilience Community of Practice Annual Meeting at Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) Blue Works in Houma.

During the Town Hall Conversations session focused on the impacts of natural disasters on residents’ health and well being, Elizabeth shared how BCF’s Rebuild the Bayou program is not only helping families return home, but improving their mental and physical health as well.

Elizabeth also explained the new ANCHOR the Bayou project, designed to identify and address needs of our lower bayou communities most vulnerable to the impacts of storms and other weather impacts.

BCF's Invites Church and Faith-Based Leaders to Join Us for "Prepared to Serve: A Faith-Based Disaster Preparedness Workshop"

In partnership with Volunteer Louisiana and the Bayou Area Regional Recovery-BARR, Bayou Community Foundation is excited to invite Church and faith-based leaders to join us for "Prepared to Serve: A Faith-Based Disaster Preparedness Workshop".

This FREE interactive workshop equips participants with the tools and strategies needed to respond effectively when disaster strikes. Learn about your role in parish volunteer and donation plans, explore the VOAD coordination model, and take part in hands-on planning activities. You'll walk away with a practical Church Readiness Checklist and next steps for action.
