Bayou Community Foundation

Kicks Off 5th Season of Rebuild the Bayou

Bayou Community Foundation's incredibly generous and talented volunteers from Christian Aid Ministries arrived on December 1 to begin their work with us, rebuilding and repairing homes for up to 20 more families in Terrebonne and Lafourche through April.

In less than two weeks, crews have already dried in one new home being built in Houma and progressed rapidly on major storm repairs at another home in Gray.

Since Fall 2021, in the aftermath of Hurricanes Ida and Francine, BCF's innovative and impactful Rebuild the Bayou housing recovery program has assisted over 570 low-income households in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle with home repairs, new home construction, and other housing solutions.

Bayou Community Foundation Receives Grant from the American Red Cross for Rebuild the Bayou

Bayou Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new $500,000 grant from the American Red Cross to fund the Foundation’s Rebuild the Bayou Program, which builds and repairs homes for low-income residents in Lafourche Parish and Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, impacted by Hurricane Francine.

THANK YOU to all of our incredibly talented and hard-working volunteers and our compassionate and generous donors whose gifts are rebuilding homes, lives and our community!

Growing Good with our Community Partners

Mary and Al Danos Family Foundation Award Grant to Fund BayouHelp.org Outreach Efforts

Bayou Community Foundation is grateful to the Mary and Al Danos Family Foundation for their generous grant supporting outreach for BayouHelp.org, BCF's online resource that connects individuals and families with critical nonprofit services across the Bayou Region.

BCF will launch a comprehensive BayouHelp.org community awareness campaign in January to help more residents know about the resource and how to use it so they can easily find help when they need it the most.

From everyday challenges to times of crisis, BayouHelp.org is here to guide our community to trusted, local support—right when it matters.

2025 Holidays on the Bayou with Chevron

Thanks to our incredible philanthropic partner Chevron, BCF’s Holidays in the Bayou program is spreading joy once again this season!

A total of $42,500 in special holiday grants was recently awarded to five local nonprofits.

With this support, Youth Community After School Program, Lafourche Juvenile Justice Facility, Lafourche Council on Aging, Hope Extreme, and HAP Organization - Helping All People are providing Christmas gifts, meals and other assistance to children, families and seniors across our Bayou Region.

Together, we are lighting up hearts and homes this holiday season!

Entergy Louisiana Fights Hunger with Grant to Second Harvest Bayou Fund at BCF

Bayou Community Foundation is grateful to Entergy Louisiana and many other individual and family donors for your generous gifts to our Second Harvest Bayou Fund in recent months.

Your donations purchase food to help local Second Harvest food bank partners keep shelves stocked during the holiday season, ensuring families in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Grand Isle don't go hungry now and throughout the year. Thank you!

BCF's Working Group on Hunger:

Strengthening Food Access Across the Bayou

Bayou Community Foundation hosted a meeting of its Working Group on Hunger December 11 at Terrebonne Churches United Food Bank, bringing together local partners and community organizations dedicated to fighting food insecurity in our region.

Attendees enjoyed a guided tour of the TCU Food Bank warehouse and heard from representatives of the LSU AgCenter, who shared opportunities to strengthen local food systems through policies and programs that make the healthy choice the easy choice.

The meeting also featured updates on BCF’s newest initiatives, including our online resource directory BayouHelp.org and our Regional Food Bank Directory—both designed to connect residents with the vital community resources quickly and easily.
