A Little Understanding Goes a Long Way with Student Success
The transition to high school from junior high was challenging for Serina. The schoolwork became more demanding, and her teachers weren’t giving her what she needed. “Starting high school changed my perspective. Everything got harder and nobody tried to understand where I needed the help. The teachers just wanted to get through the class,” said Serina, age 17, who continued to struggle at her previous school.

When she first came to Learn4Life, she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life. But, with personalized instruction and one-on-one attention, she soon began to flourish.
Good Jobs for Teens are Plentiful This Summer – Here’s How We’re Preparing Students to Land Them
Math, science, history and language are all essential classes in high school, but it’s just as important that teens learn basic workplace skills to help them land and keep a job. We’re doing just that. While earning their diplomas, all Learn4Life students complete a 10-week professional skills course that has them exploring career goals and learning basic computing, resume preparation and interview etiquette.

June’s Business Etiquette Week raises awareness about the need for positive behaviors in a business setting.
Much to Celebrate in June
There may only be 30 days in June, but the month is chock-full of reasons to celebrate. It’s the month for grads and dads…and we have plenty of both! We are graduating thousands of students this month in more than 20 commencement ceremonies. Congratulations to all our graduating students – and to the dedicated teachers and staff who helped them in their journeys. Best wishes to all the great dads out there – including our HOPE (Help Our Parenting-teens Excel) teen fathers who are staying in school while they are committed to helping raise their babies. Read this story about Ricky, a teen dad who stayed in school and cared for his infant son.

Summer officially kicks off June 21st with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the day with the most daylight hours, and for those down under, it’s the winter solstice, the day with the fewest daylight hours. Other highlights in June – Flag Day, Juneteenth, Pride Month and on the 24th it’s Take Your Dog to Work Day!
