Regathering Plans
At the April 20 meeting, the Vestry discussed regathering plans. Our target is to offer a 10:00 am indoor worship service in the sanctuary this summer. We will use the precautions prepared by our task force, and that service will be livestreamed. Our staff and leadership are hoping and planning for a full return in September, with added safety precautions, pursuant to diocesan guidelines. In the meantime, we are preparing some special opportunities to gather together and celebrate our life in Christ.

Youth Confirmation is Coming
The rite of Confirmation is an affirmation of one’s faith and a claiming of baptism. Preparation for youth confirmation allows teens to deepen their discipleship, to ask hard questions, to wrestle with their faith and to explore their own lives in Christ in a safe space. It offers the church an opportunity to support adolescents in their faith journeys.
Young people are traditionally confirmed when they are in the 8th grade or older. If you are interested in confirmation in fall 2021/spring 2022, please email Rev. Ginny Inman at ginny@standrewsgso.org.

The Blessings of Our Solar Panels
|
|
Since the solar system has been operating for less than one year and in honor of Earth Day, we thought you may enjoy these facts about our solar panel system since it started generating power: The panels have generated 28.86MW to date which is 45,090 lbs of CO2 saved.
But what does that really mean? Here are some fun facts:
- That is equivalent in Greenhouse gas emissions of 51,401 miles driven or 4.4 passenger vehicles for one year
- In CO2 emissions this equals 22,606 pounds of coal burned, 2.5 homes' energy use for one year or 47.4 barrels of oil consumed
- Carbon sequestered by 25.1 acres of U.S. forests in one year or 338 tree seedlings grown for 10 years
St. Andrews is working to do its part in our community however you want to view it. --Chris Berger

New Life - Yanceyville Place Apartments
|
In this season of Easter, the Church of the Holy Spirit and Mills Construction are proposing an affordable apartment development in northeast Greensboro. You can read about it at http://bit.ly/Yanceyv. One fourth of the apartments will rent from $273 for a one bedroom to $384 for a three bedroom, with rents for households with somewhat higher income levels ranging from $502 to $875. Tenants will be connected with supportive services to gain stability, especially those moving from homelessness and those with disabilities. The apartments will be high quality construction and energy efficient, with a community center and beautiful woods and stream preserved for environmental learning.
Please contact your city council member to voice your support for this work. The city council votes on May 4. Contact Beth McKee Huger with questions at bethmckeehuger@outlook.com.

A Prayer for Social Justice
Almighty God, who created us in your own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Thank You for Your Generosity
Thank you for your financial support of St. Andrew’s. We need your gifts. Please review the quarterly statement you recently received and contact Ray Marsh at bookkeeper@standrewsgso.org with any questions or concerns. Click here to see the ways you can help us fulfill our mission or, to donate now, just scan the QR Code with your smartphone.
Ray's Donations-Related Tax Information
There may be tax advantages when making a donation to the church either for your pledge or for a special gift to the church. Such gifts may be made through a financial account such as a qualified charitable distribution or a direct stock donation where you are not exposed to the tax implications from the application of the stock price. When these contributions are made, the church requests that you specify with your financial institution on the memo line that you by name are making the contribution when you plan to have the funds directly deposited into the church’s financial account from your financial account. This is better known as an ACH transaction where there is no human interaction with the funds and there is not even a check that is involved in the transaction.
If you do not specify on the memo line in the ACH transaction that you are making this gift, then the church has no way of learning who has given the funds until you notice that you did not receive credit for such a gift when you obtain your Quarterly Giving Statement from the church. We are unable to gain this information from any financial institution due to privacy laws. When you do receive your first quarter giving statement, please review your statement carefully. If you have given a gift to the church that is not reflected on your statement, please contact our new bookkeeper, Ray Marsh at bookkeeper@standrewsgso.org to discuss so that we may annotate where credit is due and correct your statement. Ray is in the office on Wednesday afternoons.
