TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

A Devotional Thought by Pastor Phil

We cannot imagine how much power is unleashed when we worship. There is a fantastic event in the history of Judah recorded in 2 Chronicles 20. The king, Jehoshaphat, gets word that a "wast army" is about to attack them. The nation fasts, they all assemble (the day will come when we can do that again) and pray, then they go out to meet the enemy. Leading the way are not the soldiers, but the worship leaders (Wyley to the rescue).

"They went out at the head of the army, saying:
'Give thanks to the Lord,
     for his love endures forever.'

As they began to sing and praise , the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated." 2 Chronicles 20:21-22

We so often...I'll speak for myself...I so often take worship for granted, going through the motions, singing without thinking about the words I'm signing, not expressing my heart. But coming before God, surrendered, expressing true worship to a mighty, awesome, gracious God can release power that I/we cannot imagine.

So, from your homes, worship God with ALL of your heart. Watch our Sunday videos again and worship along. There are tons of worship songs you can find on You Tube. And worship using our Saturday Spiritual Growth exercises. And let us see God's power move through our neighborhoods braking through the hardest shells and saving lives.
COMING TOMORROW

Instead of printing the May Source, we will be putting it in tomorrow’s email.
If you know someone from church who does not receive email,
please let us know. We will print it out and deliver it to them.

TODAY IS GIVING THURSDAY
by Lois Coady

Today is Giving Thursday, let’s generously give back to God who has blessed us and given so much to each one of us.

Give time to reading your Bible and prayer
Is it the quantity of our prayers or the quality of those prayers that matters? I for one believe that it is the quality that makes the real difference. In fact, when Jesus taught the disciples about the way they should pray, He encouraged them to not be showy. “Do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men…But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen” (Matthew 6:5-6). In verse 7 and 8 He continues, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans…your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” It is the quality of our relationship with God, and humble requests in our own words, that touch the heart of God. Spend time with Him today.

Give time to reach out to someone
In talking with many of you, it is apparent that “cabin fever” has set in and we are all anxious to get back to some semblance of normalcy. One way to curb that fever is to reach out to others. When we take our minds off of our circumstances and focus on someone else, we receive a blessing too!

Take time today to check in with a neighbor, call a friend, text a family member, do a Zoom call with your childhood pen pal.

You can also take a few moments to write a “thank you” card to your doctor who is still providing medical assistance to many people in our community.

Challenge yourself to come up with creative ways to reach out to those around you. The result will be that you start feeling better and the “cabin fever” will diminish…at least for today.
