TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

Do you remember how funny Bob Newhart was? Here's one of his hilarious sketches on Bus Driver Training. Click on the picture below.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT by Pastor Scott Oas

This devotion is inspired from the hymn In Times Like These  written by Ruth Caye Jones.
In times like these I have a Savior,
in times like these I have an anchor;
I’m very sure, I’m very sure my anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!
This Rock is Jesus, Yes, He’s the One
This Rock is Jesus, The only One!

In times like these we need a Savior:
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

“…keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Jude 21 (maintain your relationship with Jesus).

“He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Psalms 112:7

In times like these we need an Anchor:
"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." Hebrews 6:19

“Keep your eyes on the Savior and your heart anchored to Scripture. His WORD doesn’t fail, and neither will you when you trust Him.” -Charles F. Stanley

In times like these we need our Bible:
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4

Build your faith by clinging to God’s promises in times like these; trust in His Word and not in what you see or feel. “For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

Don’t neglect spending time reading your bible and hearing from God. “…do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:12

Scripture is inexhaustible. It is “living water”, it never disappoints. The Bible promises…comfort, strength, hope, wisdom, joy, power, and purpose for our lives. Scripture is backed by the awesome power of almighty God.

In times like these we need to give thanks :
“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Giving thanks in everything…Wow! Why? Giving thanks redirects our focus. It reveals our dependency on the Savior. Thanksgiving is an expression of our gratitude for our loving Savior. It exchanges worry for His Peace.

SHARE YOUR ART
A few years ago. Pastor Scott challenged us to write our own Magnificat – an utterance of praise such as Mary sang in response to the news she would give birth to our Savior. This was my attempt. Barbara
