What is a Neighborhood Ambassador?
A Neighborhood Ambassador is someone with a commitment to strengthen engagement and awareness within their communities. They have participated in at least 4 engagement/capacity building events hosted through the Neighborhood Services Department in the past year. These include but are not limited to:
Neighbors Connect Roundtables and/or Workshops
Neighborhood Summit
HOA Legal Clinic
Neighborhood Leadership Academy.
Other events are subject to approval by the Program Coordinator.
Neighborhood Ambassadors undergo a training to become representatives of the Neighborhood Services Department. They can table at City events, speak at HOA or Neighborhood group meetings, mentor other neighborhoods and help promote our programs. They also serve as eyes and ears to understand what are the pressing needs, and where our residents need help.
What is a Neighborhood Builder?
A Neighborhood Builder is someone who is passionate about helping our Plano residents at the physical level - through home repairs and property maintenance, or helping with their physical/emotional needs. They have participated in at least 3 qualifying events hosted by the Neighborhood Services Department in the past year. These include, but are not limited to:
Love Where You Live Service Day
Plano CARES workdays
Point-in-Time Homeless Count.
Other events are subject to approval by the Program Coordinator.
Neighborhood Builders participate in the above mentioned programs, but also undergo a training to understand more about the offerings of the Neighborhood Services Department. With this knowledge, they too will be able bring some awareness of the programs and inspire others to volunteer.
Do You Qualify or Would You Like to Learn More? Then Come Attend the Meeting!
If you qualify for either of the above and you would be interested in becoming a Neighborhood Ambassador or Neighborhood Builder, then come attend the meeting on Thursday, January 23rd, from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. We will go over what these roles entail, review the programs and services offered through the Department, guidelines and policies as well as reporting tools. If you qualify and are ready to sign up, we will get you started. If you are interested but do not yet qualify, you are welcome to come to learn more.
