The IL Presbyerian Home is thrilled to invite you to a special event in celebration of a remarkable milestone—Illinois Presbyterian Home Communities’ 70th anniversary! To commemorate this occasion, they are hosting the Back in the Day Brunch, a retro-themed gathering that brings together their residents, families, and friends to honor their rich legacy and bright future.
Please contact Mike Orr if you are interested in attending.

Renovation Caution
As renovations continue, we ask that you do not walk through the parking lot to enter the building, even if the gates are open. Please use the Garden entrance. O'Shea is working on pouring cement in the parking lot. Unless you are being escorted, please don't enter construction areas.

Join us for PrideFest 2025 - Saturday, May 17th
|
Our church's theme is “Blessed at PrideFest” and will feature blessings and angel wing selfies.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO STAFF OUR BOOTHS!
We need volunteers to staff each booth for 2 hour shifts from noon to 6PM. Some will offer blessings and some will assist with selfies. We also need volunteers to assist in putting up the booths at 9:00am in the morning and taking them down at 6pm. Sign up here.
March with us in the PrideFest Parade
We need marchers! All are welcome including your family, friends, and neighbors. This year all the faith communities of UNITED will be marching together in the parade. Each faith community will carry their own banners along with UNITED signs. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have 70 people marching that day?! Click here if you plan to join us.
PrideFest is going to be upon us before you know it. Please sign up here ASAP for various volunteer roles. You can sign up for more than one option.
Please contact Frank Schultz, Denise Bockmier-Sommers or Chaplain Tim if you have any questions. Thanks!

Caring for God's Creation
Spring is here, and the garden flowers are starting to bloom! This year, we need volunteers to keep it looking beautiful by helping with the spring clean-up, planting, and weeding. A few hours once a month from each helper would go a long ways in maintaining this serene downtown garden. Would you like to help with this? If so, please call or text Judy Bartels at 217/ 303-1646.

Heartland Housed Welcome Home Baskets
The Mission Committee and Faith and Fellowship want to thank everyone for the overwhelming success of the Welcome Home Basket for Heartland Housed initiative. Welcome Home Baskets are given to previously unhoused clients who are now being housed and in need of basic household items. From the generous donations you all gave, we have successfully filled three baskets; one in November, one in January, and one in March. We are ready to collect items for a basket in May and only need the following: pots & pan set, knife set, cooking utensils, can opener, and oven mitts.
Because of space constraints, we do not have room to store things for future baskets and Heartland Housed only accepts complete basket donations. So please only donate what is requested. Don Ecklund will have a sheet in the Narthex after the worship service, where you can sign up for a May donation. We plan to continue to provide a basket every other month and would like to collect the items listed above for the next basket by the middle of May. Thank you again for your generous response to this project.

Contributions to the Pentecost Offering
We are there to create opportunities for young people to grow, thrive and take part in building up the body of Christ through our gifts to the Pentecost Offering. Please consider making a generous gift to the Pentecost Offering, which helps the church encourage, develop, and support its young people, and also address the needs of at-risk children.

Join Faith in Place at the Illinois Capitol on Wednesday, May 21 to take action to protect Illinois' climate progress! Illinois is facing two looming crises: the transit fiscal cliff, and the threat of power-hungry data centers driving up electric costs for consumers.
Illinois' environmental movement will gather at the State Capitol to meet with legislators and push for the passage of the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition Platform, which includes legislation that accelerates our climate and equity goals in the transportation, buildings, and power sectors.

Hospital Notices
Please note that the hospitals no longer contact local churches to let them know when a member is admitted. We encourage members and friends of First Presbyterian to call the church office to let us know when you go to the hospital so Pastor Susan and Chaplain Tim can provide pastoral support if it blesses you. We do not share any information without permission.

Coffee Fellowship
Thank you to all who have provided goodies and made coffee so that we can fellowship together after service on Sundays.
We are always grateful for coffee fellowship hosts. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the commons. If you are interested in hosting but don't want to do it by yourself please let Michelle know and we can find a partner for you.

Different Ways to Give
Thank you to everyone that shares in the Joy of Generosity at First Presbyterian! There are several ways to support our ministries and many ministries to support. In order to ensure your gift is credited to the correct fund, please take a moment to include the following information when making a donation:
-
Writing a check – Add the fund name in the memo section (Capital Campaign, Peacemaking, Samaritan Ministry, etc.)
-
Online portal – Select “Other Donations” when entering the amount then enter the name of the fund in the Notes section
-
Text giving – Text “$10 CC” to 217-284-2546, this example is a $10 donation for the Capitol Campaign fund. Other commonly used text codes are: Pledge, SM (Samaritan Ministries), Donate (Non-pledge), Peace, Joy, OGHS, Pentecost and BB (Brown Bag)
