Sign Up Now for Daily Advent Devotionals

“Advent is a holy time, a time of pondering and praying, a time to reflect on the Christ Child sent into our world to show God’s love for us. As we consider this gift of God’s love, we are also called to think about how we in turn are to live in our world.”  ~Rev. Dr. Maureen Paterson

For the upcoming holiday season, we are pleased to offer a daily devotional book, Kindling the Flame of Love: A Celtic Advent Devotional. In the Celtic tradition the advent season is 40 days (the same as the season of Lent). Therefore, the first devotion will be on November 15.

There are three ways you can participate.

  • You can download a pdf copy of book to your computer by clicking here.
  • You can request a hard copy of the book by clicking here.
  • You can sign up here to receive a new devotion each day via email starting November 14.

Prayer Chain Ministry

Is praying one of your spiritual gifts? Prayer can be very powerful and through this ministry people are given hope, peace, comfort, etc. We would like to start the prayer chain ministry again. If you are interested in praying for others please contact Michelle.

Tuesday Bible/Book Study at 6:00

The Tuesday Night Bible Study will not meet next week. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Faith, Fiber and Fellowship

Faith Fiber and Fellowship needs extra hands Friday Dec. 2 to fill the bags of goodies for students at Matheny-Withrow. Just come and we will put you to work.

Need for Men’s Underwear

Helping Hands has put out a call for men’s underwear, new, any size or style. As the weather turns cold, more folks will be seeking shelter and will appreciate the opportunity to have a shower and a pair of clean underwear. There will be a box in the church narthex labeled Helping Hands for you to drop them off. Or call Kathy Johnson at 832.729.0357 who would be happy to come and pick them up.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Illinois Presbyterian Home

There are many ways to feel rewarded in this world! One of them is to volunteer your time at the Illinois Presbyterian Home. Many varied opportunities exist-- including answering phones, greeting at the front desk, driving the van, reading to residents,  participating in Sunday afternoon ice cream parties and MORE! Current volunteers from our church are Nancy Ashbaugh and Candy Thornton.

Call IPH 217.546.5622 for more information!
