The Christmas Joy Offering reflects that God is with us, through the generous gifts that support church leaders among us, retired, present and future, who have pointed us to God. Even as we support our current and former church leaders through the Assistance Program of the Board of Pensions, God is calling new leaders for our Church and world, through the ministry of Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color — offering students the means for a brighter future and enhanced opportunities to use their talents and skills to serve God, the Church and the world for years to come.
There are a couple ways to give:
Donate online (be sure to specify Joy offering)
OR Use the envelopes in the pew and put in the offering plate

Devotion from Sancti Spiritus
by Daysell
The passage of Mark 10:46-52 has a peculiarity that we must highlight to understand the author's message. (Faith). When reading the complete story that occurred here, we see that if Bartimaeus had not had enough faith to shout out loud, and not stop trying, his life would not have changed. His faith had to be great enough for his voice to reach Christ and cross the crowd, so as not to give up the attempt even though others told him to shut up. How many unrepeatable opportunities we lose in our time to get closer and know Jesus! Bartimaeus teaches us what our faith should be, capable of crossing crowds in order to find Jesus. Our life can only change if we have great faith. Faith is something essential, it goes beyond believing that God exists; It is believing that we can deposit our lives in Him, both the good and the bad. But we must observe that this great faith that Bartimaeus teaches us is born from the anguished need to seek the Savior. We also need to overcome the multiple obstacles that distract or prevent our encounter with the Lord. We need to approach Jesus without fear, prepare to listen to him through his Word and, above all, risk feeling his healing power, because he will never deny himself to anyone. Brothers and sisters, let us dare to walk awake and attentive even in the midst of the ailments, illnesses and miseries of our lives so that we capture the healing, reconciling and transforming step of Jesus and so that we find the faith we need to walk, to live and to love.

Where Do We Go From Here?
The 1908 Legacy Alliance invites you to participate in a community conversation about how Springfield's institutions acknowledge the history of 1908 and its ongoing impact on the community. This event will occur on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 6 PM at Union Baptist Church in Springfield.

Hospital Notices
Please note that the hospitals no longer contact local churches to let them know when a member is admitted. We encourage members and friends of First Presbyterian to call the church office to let us know when you go to the hospital so Pastor Susan and Chaplain Tim can provide pastoral support if it blesses you. We do not share any information without permission.

Coffee Fellowship
We are always grateful for coffee fellowship hosts. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the commons. If you are interested in hosting but don't want to do it by yourself please let Michelle know and we can find a partner for you.
The Church is trying to be environmentally friendly so if you are hosting coffee hour please do not use plastic silverware, plates, straws or bottled water when serving food during coffee hour. There are biodegradable plates, bowls, and cups for both cold and hot drinks in the large kitchen cabinet. Water and fruit juice can be served in pitchers, which can be easily washed out in the small kitchen. Please use the church silverware providing a container where it can be placed after coffee hour so a member of the Earth Care Team can take it home to be cleaned. Thanks!

Shelter Meal Volunteers

~Matthew 25:35
