We are Certified!!
After twenty-eight months of renovation and construction, we received our Permanent Occupancy certificate from the City of Springfield. Thanks be to G-d for bringing us through this journey and into new accessible, beautiful, and functional spaces!
We have already begun sharing space with the Joy of Movement (exercise for folks with Parkinson’s), a home school group, our Samaritan Ministries Social Services Desk, a dance group, Faith Coalition for the Common Good, and others. We are Generations Building Joy and we are building community.

Gratitude for Gratitude Reception
Oh my goodness!
Last Saturday afternoon’s Gratitude Reception on MLK weekend for local community organizers and church members was amazing!
Having the opportunity to meet Shailly Gupta Barnes and Phil Wider from the Kairos Center in New York City was a gift. Gathering dozens of neighbors who volunteer their energy and vision to make our community more healthy and equitable was beautiful. Thanking these friends for all of their efforts to change policies and practices is particularly fitting for a holiday weekend that honors King’s civil rights work.
Our members did a fabulous job with warm hospitality and shared gratitude!

We are grateful for the beautiful, diverse, interfaith prayer service we hosted Friday at noon. Jewish, Christian (Catholic and Protestant), Muslim, Unitarians, of many colors and languages joined our voices in song, prayers, and reflections. It was inspiring to be together. A recording of the service will be available next week.

Hospital Notices
Please note that the hospitals no longer contact local churches to let them know when a member is admitted. We encourage members and friends of First Presbyterian to call the church office to let us know when you go to the hospital so Pastor Susan and Chaplain Tim can provide pastoral support if it blesses you. We do not share any information without permission.
