I've been overwhelmed by the reaction to our appeal for justice for Yosef Kibita and the Abayudaya community of Ugandan Jews in Israel. The warm outpouring of support resulted in positive action: Yosef's deportation has been stayed. But the fight isn't over yet. We intend to pursue justice for as long as it takes. Please do
sign the petition to Prime Minister Netanyahu and Interior Minister Deri--- it takes a minute and has big impact.
I'm also so proud and impressed that Masorti has created the first egalitarian siddur for young people with special needs. It insures that all who want to, can fully participate in Jewish life. That is inclusion in action.
More good news: Masorti is adding two important positions in NYC to accelerate progress in promoting our values here and in Israel. For more about this, see below. And if you know of dynamic, enthusiastic people who would fit the positions, please let them know or contact me with your recommendations!
And finally, who can resist a rabbi who (sometimes) acts a Robin Hood to right a wrong? Rabbi Ari Hasit is helping Israeli Jews get married in ceremonies that are fully Jewish, meaningful and in keeping with their values.
It's a great time to be a Masorti Jew!
