Action For Cuba Needed

For more than six decades, the U.S. embargo of Cuba has driven a humanitarian crisis, with essential systems being pushed toward collapse. It is important to call and email your Senators to vote in support of the Cuba War Powers Resolution, S.J.Res.193. Below is a call script that you can use.

call script and legislative information

What an honor to host the Presbyterian Investment and Loan Program’s annual board retreat!

They wanted to see the ministries their service supports and they chose to visit us! Amongst the PILP board members we hosted were  The Rev. Jihyun Oh, the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly for the Presbyterian Church USA, Clare Lewis, President and CEO of PILP, and the Rev. Anne Apple, PILP Board President.

How does our faith call us to engage in the public square?

Gather online with other Presbyterians across the country on August 26 to explore how our Christian faith calls us to wrestle with current issues of voting rights, election integrity, and public policy.

You'll hear from speakers who will discuss how we can educate, organize and advocate from a place of Reformed faith, and we'll engage in dialogue to discuss next steps you can take in your community.

Micropantry Serves Our Neighbors

Thanks to everyone whose donations keep this vital ministry going. Any and all are welcome to donate food items. Simply place them in the cabinet. Please note that our partners at Grace Food Pantry bring a number of items to our micropantry every Thursday.

Many people are being served through our micropantry and during the summer months they often need water. Please avoid placing glass containers in the cabinet.

Click here for a list of suggested food items.

Nursery is Available

The nursery is available for parents to use with their little ones. You are free to use the nursery on Sunday mornings and during church events. Child care is not provided at this time so you will need to stay with your child while there.

Share your work with us! We would love to see and display your creativity and talent. Send us your colored pictures (scan, email, regular mail) and we will share them on Sunday mornings and maybe also on our Facebook page.

Hospital Notices

Please note that the hospitals no longer contact local churches to let them know when a member is admitted. We encourage members and friends of First Presbyterian to call the church office to let us know when you go to the hospital so Pastor Susan and Chaplain Tim can provide pastoral support if it blesses you. We do not share any information without permission.

Coffee Fellowship

Hosts Needed

Thank you to all who have provided goodies and made coffee so that we can fellowship together after service.

We are always grateful for coffee fellowship hosts. Our hosts make the coffee, layout treats (homemade or store bought), and clean up afterwards. Our staff will assist and teach you how to make the coffee. We need hosts for three of the five Sundays in August (August 2, 9, and 23). If you would like to volunteer please email Michelle.

Different Ways to Give

Thank you to everyone that shares in the Joy of Generosity at First Presbyterian! There are several ways to support our ministries and many ministries to support. In order to ensure your gift is credited to the correct fund, please take a moment to include the following information when making a donation:

  1. Writing a check – Add the fund name in the memo section (Capital Campaign, Peacemaking, Samaritan Ministry, etc.)
  2. Online portal – Select “Other Donations” when entering the amount then enter the name of the fund in the Notes section
  3. Text giving – Text “$10 CC” to 217-284-2546, this example is a $10 donation for the Capitol Campaign fund. Other commonly used text codes are: Pledge, SM (Samaritan Ministries), Donate (Non-pledge), Peace, Joy, OGHS, Pentecost and BB (Brown Bag)
