SERVANT OPPORTUNITIES

NARTHEX NURSERY VOLUNTEERS:

With the increase in children attending our services, we are seeking volunteers to staff our Narthex Nursery on Sunday mornings. If you adore small children, love to rock babies, eat goldfish, and would be willing to cover one Sunday a month, Cason's Children’s Ministry would love to have you join their team! Contact Emily Popolizio, Director of Family Ministries, if you are interested or know someone who is interested.

YOUTH MINISTRIES COORDINATOR(S):

we are looking for an individual or individuals who may be interested in leading these ministries. No formal training is required, in fact all that is needed is the love of kids ages 10 - 18 and the ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages and the ability to work with other adults, youth ministry leaders, and youth.

On Sunday, December 11th at 3:00 pm, come and be enthralled with our Chancel Choir, Ed Krynicki and Elaine Reinhardt as they present a beautiful Christmas Cantata.

Poignant yet powerful, sentimental yet scriptural, this cantata features 5 original free-verse poems and Scripture readings interspersed with Christmas anthems, including 7 beloved carols. This is a wonderful addition to your Holiday. Bring a friend, your family and sit and be inspired.

Immediately afterward, meet and greet the performers and enjoy a time of fellowship. See you on the 11th of December.

Thank you to all of those who brought your pledge cards to the altar on Sunday. We're off to a good start for 2023!

You can complete the card virtually at https://casonumc.org/commitment-card; or contact the church office at 561.276.5302 to have a card mailed to you.

We thank you for your prayerful commitment to the missions and ministries of Jesus Christ through Cason.

SEW N’ SEWS MINISTRY UPDATE

Beginning on December 7th, from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM, the Sew N’ Sews will be gathering in the craft room to sew again. We will be creating Aprons for the Seekers class and if interest is shown in quilting, we will do that also. Any ministry of Cason that is in need of specially sewn items, please let us know. We are also willing to teach those who would like to create simple, useful projects. Call Nancy at 757-642-4486 for details. All you need is a good pair of scissors and a desire to create! We hope you will join us for some fun and creative time together. My email is Nancynow62@aol.com. We have machines, fabric and notions on hand. Hope you will join us no matter what your skill level is.

Poinsettia Orders: It is time to place your order for poinsettias to grace the altar during the Christmas Season. You can fill out a form in the office, or on line. You can also call Sharon at (954) 383-1400.

All orders must be in by December 18th.

More than two thousand years ago, a star appeared in the East as a beacon and a guide to the newly arrived Messiah, Jesus. We talked a bit last week about the biblical account of the star. It receives a more central role in Christmas pageants than it got in the Gospel accounts of the Christmas story. But despite its brief biblical appearance, it was a star that led people to Jesus, just as the star leads us to Jesus this Advent season.

This week is all about love. As we hear from John, “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” This is true love, and true love is meant to be so overwhelming that we are moved to share it with others. This time of year, the world would have you believe that love is shown by what you buy for someone, and it is measured by the cost of that gift. But Jesus payed the ultimate price for the gift He gave us and there is nothing more precious for us to give than that love He shared with us.
