WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK!

Celebrating Women in Construction Week

Women have been breaking barriers in the construction industry, and while progress is being made, there’s still room to grow. Currently, women make up about 11% of the total construction workforce in the U.S., with an even smaller percentage working in skilled trades positions. However, programs like Careers in Construction Colorado (CICC) are helping shift that narrative.

At CICC, 15% of our students are women, proving that more young women are seeing the value and opportunity in construction careers. By providing hands-on training, industry connections, and real-world experience, we are ensuring that the next generation of builders includes more skilled women who will shape the future of the industry.

This Women in Construction Week, we celebrate the women who are already making an impact in the trades and encourage more to join them. Together, we can build a stronger, more diverse workforce.

CICC Program Featured in PBS Article for Hands-On Learning Experience

A CICC school was recently featured in a PBS article for building a 288-square-foot tiny home. Students are gaining hands-on experience in carpentry, electrical work, and job-site safety—preparing them for careers in the trades.

“Careers in Construction in Colorado and their assistance with Home Builders Institute (HBI) curriculum and credentialing help EPIC's Tiny Home program explode in enrollment, gather industry-ready skills, and place students for careers upon graduation. HBI and CICC open pathway doors for all.”

CLASSROOM TO THE INDUSTRY

Palisade High School Visits North Peak Construction

Students from Palisade High School recently visited the Black Out Sports Complex, currently under construction by North Peak Construction. They learned about the building’s design, saw lifts in action, and watched metal roofing being installed.

North Peak Construction made the visit even more memorable by giving each student a hard hat, shirt, and safety vest. It was an informative and hands-on experience, and we’re grateful for the opportunity they provided. Thank you, North Peak Construction, for supporting our students!
