The words on the cross on the border wall in Agua Prieta:
VIVAMOS SIEMPRE COMO HERMANOS
Let us always live as sisters and brothers
TODOS SOMOS MIGRANTES
We are all migrants

Dear Friends,
During this Lenten season we have the opportunity to accompany Jesus on the journey into the joys and suffering of the world. Jesus' journey led him to the cross which exposed the violence and cruelty of religious and political system that conspired against Jesus and his vision of the peaceable kingdom where we are called to love God and neighbor, stranger and enemy.
Many years ago, together with our partners of CAME, we placed a cross on the border wall that reminds us that as the cross was a tool of the Roman empire to attempt to protect itself from those it deemed a threat; the wall serves as a tool of the US.
When we see it though, we are also reminded that "Christ's purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile us to God through the cross, by which he has put to death our hostility." (Ephesians 2:15-16)
May God grant us wisdom, courage and an abundance of love to be instruments of peace in the midst of the hostility of our communities.

Crosses Are Not Enough
by Jay Stone
| | Jay Stone first came to Frontera de Cristo (FDC) with a class from Queens University of Charlotte in May 2024. Jay now serves with FDC as a Young Adult Volunteer teaching English classes at Café Justo y Más and DougaPrieta Trabaja. | | Children's Enrichment Ministry Art Show | | |
TODAY, THE DOUGLAPRIETA Educational Enrichment Program site held its art opening at the Arte Patrimonio Museum. The Centro Comunitario site will have an opening in March and the Lirio de los Valles site will have an opening in April.
After the initial exhibition in Cafe Justo y Mas in the fall (see video), the city requested that the exhibit move to teh city's museum and will be there until the end of May. Plans are for the the exhibit to travel to at least three more cities: Prairie Village, KS, Phoenix, AZ and Buffalo, NY.
It was a great joy to see these children enjoying this special moment: witnessing the artwork they created, where they expressed their understanding of freedom.
We thank everyone who made this event possible and invite you to visit the Arte Patrimonio Museum (Calle 6 Avenida 16), where you can find great works of art, including those created by our Educational Enrichment Program.

| | "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart" by Olivia Phelps | | But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. --Galatians 5:22–23 (NIV) | | | | |
I ENCOUNTER THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT every day here in the Borderlands. With the people I meet on the street, my fellow Young Adult Volunteers (YAVs), and the communities of Frontera de Cristo (FDC) and First Presbyterian Church of Douglas, there is an abundance of love, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness present. But when I reflect on where I most clearly witness the fruits of the Spirit as a Borderlands YAV, I instantly think of the joy I experience with the children I work with through FDC’s Children’s Enrichment Ministry.

| | Café Justo Now Available! | | | | CAFÉ JUSTO IS AVAILABLE AGAIN. The new price through the coffee and compassion order page will be $15 per pound, which includes shipping, with a two-pound minimum. This price reflects the first increase in price in 4 years and only the second increase in 14 years which, when combined with the falling value of the dollar, the 150% increase in the Mexican minimum wage over the last 6 years, and the pandemic-fueled inflation, led to severe cash flow issues for the coffee cooperative. The new price of $15 went into effect February 1, 2026. | | Donate to the Capital Campaign for CAME | | |
