SERVANT OPPORTUNITIES

Narthex Coffee Ministry

We are looking for individuals to staff our coffee ministry at the 9:15 AM and 11 AM services. It’s a great way to meet new people and help make our guests feel welcomed. You can volunteer for a single Sunday, specific Sundays each month, or every week.

For those who can't volunteer but still wish to help out, you can also donate K-pod coffee, creamers and breakfast bars.

See Nancy Reames for more details.

Weekly Sanctuary Prep Team

Come be part of a team that makes our worship space more welcoming by tidying the pews and refilling the resources found there (note paper, contact and prayer cards, pencils).

If you have 30 minutes to an hour one day a week, please consider signing up for this important ministry team.

Seekers Kitchen Ministry

Our Seekers group is looking for people willing to serve on their kitchen team. The interested person(s) would serve on a rotational basis and would be responsible for cooking dinner, along with the rest of the team, for 40+ people on a predetermined schedule.

FAMILY MINSITRIES

The Children’s Ministry Advisory Board had a recent meeting to explore options for children’s programming, in addition to the regular Sunday morning Sunday School format. This group was made up of parents, grandparents, staff, teachers (both current and retired) and Pastor David.

The group was presented with an array of options for involving children in a variety of programs including expanding a choir/chorus, social action activities, community outreach events, etc.

We discussed the pros and cons of each idea. Be watching for implementation beginning this fall of several of the new ideas.

We are pleased to announce that Dick and Marlene Weir have agreed to be the new leaders for our Daytrippers Ministry.

Dick and Marlene actually became part of Cason UMC through Daytrippers, and are thrilled to be part of it's re-inception.

The first outing will be held in October, so please check back for more information.

THE UPPER ROOM REFLECTIONS

We’d love for you to join us on ZOOM at 10:15 AM between Sunday worship services.

Each weekday we read the scripture and story in the “Upper Room.”

On Sunday, someone points out the day they liked best and we share reading the scripture and story aloud.

In the discussion following we find connection and inspiration for dealing with the week ahead. We’ll be looking for you. Following is the link:

We're excited to announce Cason's fresh, new podcast, Greater Than. This 30 minute podcast will feature community leaders and non-profits discussing important issues and events of the day: faith, social justice, community services and more.

The podcast will be available on the 5th of each month, and can be found on the Cason App and wherever you download your podcasts.

WEST LAWN FUND MANAGEMENT TEAM

The West Lawn Team will meet Wednesday, July 27th at 7:00 PM in the library to make a final recommendation on which Fund Adviser to use for the proceeds from the sale of the West Lawn.

Everyone is welcome to attend and share with the committee.

It has come to our attention that some members who use eOffering, our electronic tithing solution, may have experienced an interruption to their planned giving.

In the event that there was a disruption and you'd like to make up or tithe towards the uncollected funds, please click the link below.

THE STATE OF OUR BATHROOMS

You may have noticed that we are missing our two primary bathrooms. They aren’t exactly missing. They are the victims of a mold attack and had to be stripped to the studs to make sure our members and visitors remain safe.

You may also have noticed that they have been in this condition for a while and are probably wondering why. The truth is we didn’t forget about them. As a matter of fact, our construction team is in place, the tile has been ordered and we’re ready to go.

So, what’s the hold up? Well, like many of you know who have taken on a major construction project; you can’t say go until only the material is in place and the permits our hung. Cason is waiting on permits from the city of Delray Beach. Currently, Delray Beach, with all of the construction going on is 40 to 90 days behind in issuing permits.

But have faith Cason! By the end of this week Sealtite Plumbing will begin roughing in both bathrooms. Sealtite will work with Sopra Construction to get the bathrooms back in service.

Continue to check your Good News for updates as they are available.

As we all know, the United Methodist Church finds itself less than united currently. Over the past few years, it has become apparent that the church was headed for an amicable split at best, an acrimonious divorce at worst.

While there was aspiration for a grace filled and loving separation, it appears that all hope of that outcome has disappeared.

On July 14th, 106 UMC churches in Florida sued the Florida Annual Conference seeking to immediately disaffiliate from the denomination. They allege the requirements for disaffiliation approved by a special session of the United Methodist Church’s General Conference are “onerous, and in many cases, prohibitive.”

Ready to be “FLOORED”?

Our campaign to raise $3.000 to replace the worn carpeting in the office and hallways from the entrance on Lake Ida door to the Fellowship Hall with weatherproof, durable vinyl plank flooring started 3 weeks ago.

We are grateful for donations of any amount. There are envelopes in the narthex and the church office labeled “Floor Fund” which are available for any amount. When we are fully funded, we will begin work on this much-needed upgrade.

We were fortunate to receive free “new” office furniture from a large company in Boca to renovate the office as soon as the flooring is installed. Things may be a little messy when work begins later this summer, but be prepared to be “FLOORED” with the new look!!
