A Message from Debbie Wagner, CEO
Dear BGCT supporters

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer so far and enjoying this special time of year for our young people.

Summer camp at BGCT is in full swing and our BGCT staff are engaging youth in fun, active and healthy summer programs. Our Summer Day Camps provide positive role models and the opportunity for our kids to meet friends, discover new interests and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Thanks to our board, sponsors, community partners and BGCT staff for their amazing efforts and work to support this important experience for over 1200 Tucson youth. Our kids and families depend on us to open our doors and provide a safe and welcoming place during this critical out of school time and we could not do it without you!

We are grateful to you and wish you a wonderful July 4th holiday.

Comcast and Boys & Girls Clubs Partner to Expand Horizons for Youth
Comcast supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson and programs to help youth explore their interests, develop their potential and succeed in school and beyond.

Recently, teens participating in Boys and Girls Pascua Yaqui Keystone Club traveled to New York to visit NYU and Columbia University as part of the Club’s youth leadership and development program. Comcast NBCUniversal surprised the students with a VIP tour of the Comcast NBCUniversal studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

On Friday, June 8, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson held its 27th Annual Steak & Burger Dinner and Awards Ceremony to honor high-achieving Southern Arizona students with Youth of the Year Awards and college scholarships.

Rosalinda Cancio, a Pascua Yaqui Clubhouse Member, was presented with a special $2,000 Comcast Academic Achiever Scholarship Award. As an added surprise, all of the student Awardees received Comcast-funded laptops, fully loaded with Microsoft Office products and Norton Antivirus, to better equip them for the next stage of their academic careers.

Club Kids Enjoyed Kidfest 2018
iHeartRadio’s My 92.9 and R Entertainment presented Tucson Kidsfest powered by Tucson Electric Power, this past weekend June 23-24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The largest family event in Tucson was held indoors at the Tucson Convention Center and will offered activities for kids of all ages. Activities included the TNT Slam Dunk Show, a dinosaur encounter where kids interacted with dinosaurs and participated in a fossil digging challenge, game trucks, inflatables, carnival rides, electric animal rides, a Bookman’s Entertainment Area, and more.

A full-day of entertainment hosted by Funergy included games, dancing, and an interactive show with celebrity guests Karan Brar from Disney Channel’s “Jessie” and “Bunk’d” on Saturday and Sofia Wylie from Disney Channel’s “Andi Mak” on Sunday.

Club kids were treated to a special early admission period to enjoy the fun before anyone else. Needless to say, the kids had a blast. Thank you to our partners for making this opportunity possible.
Planned Giving
Give Your Family the Gift of Education
College is expensive, and there is no sign of educational costs declining any time soon. If you want to help your children and grandchildren get ahead in life, there are ways you can help them lower the cost of higher education.

One of the best ways to help a child or grandchild is to establish and contribute to a qualified 529 plan. 529 plans can make distributions to almost all accredited colleges and universities in the country for:
·        Tuition
·        Books
·        Other education-related expenses

If you want to benefit more than one child and don’t wish to establish multiple 529 plan accounts, consider creating an education unitrust. This is a charitable remainder trust where funds can be transferred to the trust tax-free. You or your trustee control how the funds are invested. You can also stipulate who can receive funds from the trust and under what conditions.

After the trust has completed all your primary objectives, any remaining funds go to help charity, such as the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson. With this plan, you can save taxes, benefit your family, and continue your legacy with our Club.
