SFNE is pleased to report that Senate Bill # 428, the New Hampshire Buy American legislation, received a 5-0 "ought to pass" vote. The legislation, filed by Senator Tom Sherman (District 24), would establish the requirement for American-made steel products in all public works projects where the state administers the contract, and the contract involves at least $1,000,000 state dollars.
This bill has a long way to go in the legislative process, but this is a significant victory. SFNE could not have succeeded in this effort without the help of so many members who contacted legislators to ask for support.
The SFNE Buy American Task Force is also working to pass similar legislation in Massachusetts and Maine. However, the goal is to introduce and work towards the passage of Buy American bills in all six New England states.
SFNE will keep you up-to-date on developments as the bills continue through the legislative process. We welcome your financial support as we move forward as these efforts remain costly. Member contributions are funding the campaigns, and we hope you will contribute. Every donation helps.
Please let me know if I can provide additional information or if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Catherine A. Flaherty, CAE
