Dear Parish family,

Christmas may be a more popular Christian holiday when it comes to music on the radio, but most of my favorite sacred music is actually written for Holy Week. I hope you will be able to join us for all of our Holy Week services, not just to worship, but also to find peace and comfort in the music will be sharing. For organ music, I have lots of selections by Bach for you, as well as, for Easter morning, Jean-François Dandrieu’s exciting set of variations on the Easter hymn “O filii et filiae” (“Oh sons and daughters, let us sing”).

Our choir will be singing on Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. They will be sharing anthems by Maurice Duruflé, Herbert Howells, William Harris, and a brand new musical setting of an Easter hymn by one of my favorite poets, Christina Rossetti. We are looking forward to sharing this music with you!

Easter Flowers & Baskets



Saturday, April 19 at 8:30 A.M. We will assemble the Easter window baskets and bring back the brass and beauty to our sanctuary. All are welcome to help; please bring any garden greens and blooms you can.

Easter Lilies & Flowers Donations

Please consider a contribution towards the flowers and lilies that will decorate our church for Easter. This is a wonderful way to remember loved ones who have passed on or to give thanks for the blessings in your life. Please fill out the form in your bulletin and place it with your check (note “Easter Flowers” in the memo line) in the offering basket or office mailbox. These remembrances and thanksgivings will be listed in the Easter bulletins.

I would like to meet with all of you, individually or in small groups. Please know that these chats are important to me, and to the future of this church. We need to know where we are starting from so that we can go forward together.

I am at Ascension Parish on Tuesdays from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. I am also at the church Wednesdays through Fridays, when my schedule varies, so it is best to meet me by appointment. If you would like to schedule a specific time to meet with me, please give me a call at 971-200-0970. Remember, I do make house calls as well. I am here to be of service to you.

The Collect for Palm Sunday: April 13, 2025

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
