Dear Ascension Parishioners,
A very happy New Year to each and every one of you. As we close the chapters and storylines on 2024 and turn our attention, our hearts, and our minds to this new year, it is with great anticipation and hope that we welcome an even better 2025, fortified and blessed with Mother SuEllen and a growing congregation. I invite you to please come to the 10:00 AM service this Sunday morning, January 5, which will be followed immediately by my presentation of “The State of the Parish." We will conduct our annual meeting a little differently this year by holding it at the conclusion of the 10:00 AM service. Please come to hear the highlights of the past year and thank the people, some known and some less known, who work tirelessly to make Ascension Parish thrive.
A few important notes about this Sunday’s schedule. There will not be an 8:00 AM Said Mass this Sunday, so that all parishioners may gather together to participate in the annual meeting. There will also be a reception in Reinhart Hall immediately following the annual meeting, so please come and enjoy an assortment of good food and beverages, and join in welcoming your new Senior Warden and a new vestry member as they begin their opportunities to serve Ascension in very important lay leadership ministries.
Please also come to the annual meeting with any questions you may have about “The State of the Parish.” I will do my best during my presentation to cover the topics that come to mind when I think about Ascension: the people, the ministries, the financial health of the parish, and its likely path forward. But I hope we can have an open forum so that you may ask any questions that linger about AEP and its condition as we celebrate its 135th birthday in this new year!
