The CGS Deanery representatives-Pat Ahern, Kim Bryant, Sally Hajjar, Charlie Kitts, and Steve Steadman, attended meetings in May and June. In May the annual Sending/Serving and House of Mercy grants were awarded to the member parishes, where they will help with congregational services and programs for persons in need in the community. CGS received a matching grant to cover expenses for Vacation Garden School. We also received a House of Mercy grant, which will enable us to further support the work of Eva House, a safe house for women and their children. At the June meeting we shared parish news, reported on special events, and discussed how the Deanery’s asset mapping tool can connect churches to one another. Several churches are in rector and leadership transition, as is the Deanery itself, so our prayerful gathering was assuring and positive.
