ADULT CONFIRMATION CLASS

Begins on January 11

9:30 - Henslee Hall

The Adult Confirmation - or Inquirer's Class - will begin on Sunday, January 11 during the Sunday School hour at 9:30 am. The sacrament of Confirmation is the adult confirmation, or acceptance, of our baptismal vows that were made on our behalf if we were baptized as an infant or a child. It is also the class or method by which adults, baptized or confirmed in another denomination or tradition, join the Episcopal Church. We also highly recommend those life-long Episcopalians who were confirmed when they were 12 or 13 to attend and learn all the stuff they didn't learn the first time! For more information, please contact Father Cal.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY RESUMES

The Tuesday Women’s Bible Study starts back on January 13th with the continued study of the book A Shepard's Take on Psalm 23. They meet both in person and on Zoom. If you are interested in joining this group for study and fellowship, please contact Martha Terrell at marthamt@charter.net.

CHILI COOK-OFF

The Annual Good Sam Chili Cook-Off will take place on Sunday, February 1. Judging, appetizers, and fellowship will begin at 5:30, and then at 6:00, we eat!

We need folks to make chili for judging, as well as folks to judge the chili! Prizes will be awarded in a few different categories.

We also need appetizers, Fritos, sour cream, cheese, cornbread, and dessert. See the signup sheet below and choose something you'd like to bring.

NOTE: There is ALSO a signup sheet in Henslee Hall if you'd prefer to signup that way. You only need to signup in one place...either here OR Henslee Hall - not both. We'll combine the lists as often as we can.

HELP NEEDED

Do you have some extra time throughout the week? We have a number of older adults needing extra support with tasks such as house/yard cleaning and/ or grocery shopping. The Care Committee was asked if there were any people who might be interested in helping out a little for some of these parishioners. If you are interested, call Greg Phelps, the committee chair, at 865-919-5504, or notify the church office.

Please note that this is another date change for VBS - it is now in June instead of July!

THE FEAST OF LIGHTS

GOOD SAM IN JAPAN

Well, at least PART of Good Sam is in Japan! Maddie Bell continues to represent Good Sam and humanity well as she travels around Japan with a group from the University of Tennessee. We miss her, but we delight in her growth and adventurous spirit!

GRACE MOMENT AT GOOD SAM

Cash in the Plate

Water Mission International’s (WMI) focus is to honor God by developing, implementing, and sharing best-in-class safe water solutions that transform as many lives as possible, as quickly as possible. Since 2001, WMI has served more than 8 million people in more than 65 countries, sharing safe water and the message of God’s love.

You can make an online gift to the cash in the plate on the Good Sam online giving page. There is an option on the giving page to give to the "Cash in Plate". As always, you may also send a check to Good Samaritan. Please put "WMI" in the memo line.
