Letter to the Presbytery
Dear Members of the Great Rivers Presbytery,
As many of you know, the Great Rivers Presbytery has again entered into a time of transition and leadership change. I have served as the Adjunct Presbyter since October and the General Presbyter for the month of June. I would like to say thank you for those who have stepped up and taken on extra responsibilities to make certain the functionality of the presbytery continues to run smoothly. As of July 1st, I will no longer be serving as the Adjunct Presbyter and temporary General Presbyter. I feel this will be best for the changes that need to occur and allow for untainted progress in the new direction Great Rivers Presbytery is now being called.
In the time to follow, and until new or temporary leadership is established, questions can be addressed by the following people:
May God be our guide as we work to build Christ's church and live in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Blessings
Rev. Dr. Andrew Gifford

Training for Churches in Interim
The Committee on Ministry has authorized regional training seminars for churches in interim/transition. As interim can often feel like an anxious time full of uncertainty, these seminars are meant to help churches understand the path they'll take from the dissolution of one pastoral relationship to the installation of a new one. Topics will include the period prior to formal dissolution, searching for a transitional pastor, the mission study, and the PNC process. Session members and PNC members are encouraged to attend.
We are in the process of establishing dates in several places in the Presbytery. The western portion of the Presbytery will have training in late July (date/location will be established shortly). We are looking for churches in the southern, northern, and eastern parts of the Presbytery to host these events. If your church would be willing to host, please contact Rev. James Benson at
james@goodshepherdpres.org.
Look for update information in the coming weeks.

Puzzled about Financial Reviews?
The Book of Order
requires that churches do an annual financial review. Some churches struggle with the costs of hiring an outside firm so they perform their own financial review. This is typically done by church members with financial backgrounds or a clear understanding of the church's finances, but sometimes churches do not have volunteers who are comfortable with their ability to perform a financial review. The financial review should NOT be completed by the church bookkeeper, treasurer or relatives of either. The Presbytery of Great Rivers will be offering a training session for church volunteers with the goal of giving them the tools to feel confident in their ability to perform the required financial review.
The Financial Review Training will take place as follows:
Wednesday August 2 10am-noon
First Presbyterian Church
301 Pekin Street
Lincoln, IL 62656
