Dear Families at Oak Grove,

I am thrilled to announce that Oak Grove Preschool & Kindergarten will officially be offering 1st grade for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year! This is an exciting opportunity for our students to continue their education with us.

Enrollment for 1st grade is currently open to current families but will be opening to the public starting on February 8th, 2024. We encourage all interested families to secure their spot as soon as possible.

We are also excited to share that the "Swirly Room" will be transformed into an engaging learning environment for our 1st-grade students. We look forward to keeping all families informed on the progress of this exciting transformation, which will begin very soon!

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education. We are so EXCITED to share this wonderful news!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions in the meantime at mandy@oakgroveumc.org, I’m always happy to help!

Sincerely,

Mandy Midgett

On Sunday mornings, we meet upstairs at 9:45 and at 5:30pm Sunday evenings. If you are in grades 6 - 12, please stop in any week during those times.

Middle School - "IGNITE" @ 9:45 am - "Ignite" will finish the Jesus Quiz and begin "The Way" video series, taking us to the places Jesus went to during His ministry.

High School - "Cross Trainers" @ 9:45 am - We will meet as usual at 9:45 and then as a group decide whether to start our study of the Book of John or participate in the craft activities going on in the hallways.

Sunday Night Small Group at 5:30 - Small group will be led by Roger and Tammy. Susan will provide dinner this week. I haven't decided what to fix yet so I guess it will be a surprise. Reminder that on the 25th, we will again go to Youth Day at Virginia Wesleyan University in lieu of the usual evening meeting. Permission slips are out and available.

Mission Trip - Registration forms are out and available for the summer mission trip June 23 - June 29th! First come first served for limited spots on that trip.

CAST Dinner - Save the date! The Youth group is signed up to handle preparing & serving the CAST(Chesapeake Area Shelter Team) dinners on Sunday March 3rd. Please plan to serve and be a light to our homeless population right here in our area.  Permission slips will be out for this soon.

Submit a Prayer Request

Dear Family & Friends of Oak Grove United Methodist Church –

I am writing to share some difficult news. Yesterday, while traveling in Portugal, Rev. Frank Holley suffered a major heart attack at the Lisbon airport. It is with great sadness that I share that Pastor Frank did not survive the heart attack.

Pastor Frank will always hold a special place in the heart of Oak Grove. He served Oak Grove from 2013 – 2020. Pastor Frank’s leadership was marked by his strong pastoral presence and leadership during a difficult season at Oak Grove that paved the way for growth and a renewed hope for the future.

Please keep Pastor Frank’s wife, Sheila, and their children (Sarah, Katharine, & Aaron) and extended family and friends in your prayers during this difficult time.

We give thanks to God on this Ash Wednesday for the promise of eternal life and the gift of the Resurrection.

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Amanda
