Mission Statement

On Monday, Bishop Sue announced that we will be receiving a new District Superintendent effective July 1, 2024, The Rev. Beth Givens. Pastor Beth currently serves as the Senior Pastor at Haygood United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach. District Superintendents have a variety of responsibilities including serving on the Bishop’s cabinet which makes clergy appointments to the church, supervising and mentoring clergy, and serving as missional strategists for the district and conference.

Dear Oak Grove Families,

I hope this message finds you well! We are pleased to announce that Oak Grove Preschool & Kindergarten will be accepting 2024-25 Enrollment Packets VIA EMAIL starting Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. for Current Families, Alumni, & OGUMC Church Members. We will start accepting enrollment packets from New Incoming Families on Thursday, February 8th at 8:00 a.m.

I am delighted to share some exciting news regarding Oak Grove Preschool & Kindergarten. We are thrilled to announce that we are planning to open a first-grade program! This expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing quality education and ensuring continued growth in our children.

However, before we can proceed with our plans, we need the approval of the City of Chesapeake. We are working diligently to obtain the necessary approval to move forward smoothly. We believe that this program will be a valuable addition to our educational offerings, and we are hopeful that the city recognizes the same. We will be opening pre-registration for first-grade, contingent on the approval from the city. Enrollment will begin for OGUMC Church Members, Alumni, and Current Families for first grade starting on Thursday, January 25^th at 8 AM.

We have a very exciting event for the youth group next week, and it's a combined youth group from multiple churches.

Youth Night at Virginia Wesleyan from 3:15 - 7:30pm on Sunday January 28th. Cost is only $2 and includes so much! Games - Small Group - Worship service led by VWU college students - AND Dinner provided in the VWU dining room! You must register by the deadline of January 24th in order to reserve your spot(or text Roger)

Middle School - "IGNITE" @ 9:45 am - "Ignite" will conclude our series on Jonah with Chapter 4. We'll discuss some takeaways along with a short video to put in perspective of what God is ultimately trying to teach Jonah as well as us.

High School - "Cross Trainers" @ 9:45 am - Cross Trainers will continue their study on the Book of James.

Reminder that Youth Day/Night at Va Wesleyan replaces Evening Small Group this week - No Sunday Evening Small Group

CAST Dinner - Save the date! The Youth group is signed up to handle preparing & serving the CAST(Chesapeake Area Shelter Team) dinners on Sunday March 3rd. Please plan to serve and be a light to our homeless population right here in our area.
