Mission Statement

We will be the body of Christ in our Community by Connecting with God, Growing in Discipleship, and Serving the World.

Next Sermon for October 15th

Dear Oak Grove Family,

This past week we had over 80 people participate in the Gather to Plan events and share their hopes for Oak Grove’s future and their observations about where we need to improve. It was a wonderful time of sharing and reflecting on where the Holy Spirit is moving and the ministry that God is calling us to. Thank you to the Trustees and Church Council for bringing us together!

You might be wondering what we are going to do with all the ideas that were shared at the Gather to Plan events.

This week Oak Grove’s office volunteers have begun to compile the information and create a word document that will be shared with church leadership, staff, and the congregation.

Over the next few weeks, we will be creating three new ministry teams that align with Oak Grove’s vision and core values. The Connect Team will focus on connecting us with one another through fellowship, the Grow Team will focus on connecting us with God by helping us grow as disciples, and the Serve Team will focus on connecting us with the community as we serve our neighbors. The ideas shared at the Gather to Plan will be given to the administrative committee or ministry team that is the best fit for discerning if we move forward with the idea.

I invite you to prayerfully consider how God is calling you to connect, gather, and grow at Oak Grove UMC.

I am also excited that Oak Grove now has an Amplify Media subscription. Amplify Media is a wonderful resource of Bible Studies and Christian media for all ages. Several of our upcoming sermon series have corresponding videos and studies in Amplify Media. The studies can be done independently or with a small group or Sunday school class. They also have great resources for kids! I encourage you to create and account and check it out.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Peace & Blessings,

Pastor Amanda

Hello, Dear Church -

After much faith, prayer, and planning I am happy to report we have successfully launched our young adult ministry, The O.G.’s! We have had two gatherings in October and twelve people at each. This group is hungry for community, authenticity, and spiritual growth with a heart for serving our Lord. God is good! I want to thank the church for your prayers and passion to assure Oak Grove UMC doesn’t just want young folks in the church, we want to make sure we make space at the table. Your hospitable spirit is felt!

We will meet every other Tuesday, 6:30-8pm in The Lounge upstairs. Childcare is included (amazing!). We will not be meeting on October 31st (happy trick-or-treating!) Stay tuned for our November dates and as always, for any questions contact Pastor Britney, [email protected]

Blessings,

Pastor Britney

A huge shout out to the Worship Ministry Team and the Trustees as they prepare Oak Grove’s Freedom Rocks! gathering space. We look forward to moving the prayer rocks created during the Prayer Rocks sermon series to our new gathering space on Sunday, November 12 after 11am worship. If you haven’t made a prayer rock, it isn’t too late – the prayer rocks and the supplies to make them will remain out until November 12th.
