The Skit Guys - What To Do With An Hour

Next Sermon for November 5th

Dear Oak Grove Family,

One of the things that has impressed me about Oak Grove is your commitment to prayer. Each week throughout this series we are focusing on praying for a child in a specific way. I have loved hearing stories about the children you have felt called to pray for – from neighborhood children to the children in Israel and Gaza, to praying for our youth. It is wonderful to hear your commitment to praying for the next generation.

This past Sunday we talked about the difference prayer can make in a child’s life, especially the prayers of a faith community over the course of a child’s life. It is a commitment we renew every time we baptize an infant or child as both the parents and the faith community are taking responsibility for the faith formation of the child until they are confirmed. Part of this responsibility is praying for the child’s faith, but also that they are resilient and prayerfully discern the work God is preparing them to do as they grow into adults.

This week we are invited to pray for a child that God has placed on our heart.

This Sunday is our last opportunity to paint a prayer rock for our Freedom Rocks gathering space. If you haven’t painted a rock, I encourage you to paint one this week!

Peace & Blessings,

Pastor Amanda

Hello, Dear Church -

We are continuing to develop and grow our young adult ministry here at Oak Grove, for those who are post high school to forty. In that spirit, we are launching a Sunday School class headed up by a young adult favorite, Mary Knight! We will begin this Sunday (November 5th) during the Sunday School hour in room 234!

The O. G.’s will continue to meet every other Tuesday night, with November dates being 11/14 and 11/28. We will meet in The Lounge upstairs from 6:30-8pm with childcare provided.

As always, if you have any questions or ideas please let me know! I am so grateful for the church’s investment in our young adults. Thanks be to God for this budding ministry!.

Blessings,

Pastor Britney

We are so excited to start planning for Advent. This is a time to teach our children about the true meaning of the season and the story of Jesus' birth. Interested in helping with FUN activities during Advent?!? We are looking for interested volunteers for a family-filled event, "Create and Celebrate", on Sunday, December 3rd, between worship services.

Here are the announcements for this week.

Christmas Play Practice - Practices are continuing each week. Save the date for a December 16th date for the play.

Youth Activity Nights - The November 19th activity night will include the traditional Thanksgiving meal. We will also be preparing for Advent. We need your help to get the church ready for Jesus' birth! We will not have an activity night in December due to other activities and holidays occurring on two Sundays.

Christmas Caroling - The youth would like to go caroling on the Sunday after the Christmas play. They will visit some OG shut-ins, both at home and those in nursing homes. Then, they will finish the evening by going out to dinner. The Women's ministry and anyone else interested in participating, is invited to join us for Caroling and dinner!

As always, please feel free to contact me or any of your youth leaders, with questions or suggestions for our youth!

A huge shout out to the Worship Ministry Team and the Trustees as they prepare Oak Grove’s Freedom Rocks! gathering space. We look forward to moving the prayer rocks created during the Prayer Rocks sermon series to our new gathering space on Sunday, November 12 after 11am worship. If you haven’t made a prayer rock, it isn’t too late – the prayer rocks and the supplies to make them will remain out until November 12th.
