Alumni Spotlights: Inspiring Achievements

Anay Aparicio '22

Anay Aparicio joined the Good Sam family in 2010. Her journey 

began with the Youth Advisory Community (YAC) and continued through Camp Good Sam, the Afterschool Program, Camp Capers, and the College and Career Readiness Program. Her experiences with each program fueled her desire to give back to the Good Sam community, as Anay currently serves as our Lead Asset Builder with our Youth & Teen Services at Good Sam. Anay is currently taking the next step in her journey and also enrolling in Alamo Colleges to further her education. 

Israel Mendoza '22

Israel Mendoza joined the Good Sam family in 2015. His journey began with the Youth Advisory Community Program (YAC), where he built a foundation for his personal growth. Today, Israel is a college student at Texas A&M San Antonio and is an Asset Builder in our Youth & Teen Services. He is grateful for the support and experiences, as a student and now a team member, at Good Sam which helped him gain confidence and embrace his extroverted nature.

Chris Salazar Jr. '15

Chris Salazar Jr. joined the Good Sam family in 2012, when he participated in the Asset Building for Clients (ABC) Program. Encouraged and supported by the program, Chris earned his associate degree from San Antonio College and a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M San Antonio. Today, Chris is making a difference as a special education teacher, head golf coach, and assistant boys' basketball coach at Sidney Lanier High School.

Bianca Perez '19

Bianca Perez joined the Good Sam family in 2009 when she found support through the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). Her time at Good Sam taught her to approach challenges with a positive mindset and determination. Now, as a stay-at-home mom working part-time at HEB, Bianca is focused on raising her daughter to be confident and empowered, using the tools and resources she acquired at Good Sam. She is currently enrolled in our Parents as Teachers Program.

Melanie Trujillo '22

Melanie Trujillo joined the Good Sam family in 2010, when she participated in the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), Afterschool Program, and College and Career Readiness Program. Through these experiences, Melanie learned the importance of giving back and received guidance on college applications and financial aid. Now, she is a young entrepreneur, starting her own business while attending Palo Alto College with plans to transfer to the University of Texas at San Antonio soon.

Ashley Aparicio '20

Ashley Aparicio joined the Good Sam family in 2010 and gained leadership and social skills through the Youth Advisory Committee, after-school program, and Camp Good Sam. She shared that these programs also introduced her to scholarship opportunities that helped her educational journey. In May 2024, Ashley proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of the Incarnate Word. She recently accepted a job offer with Raíces San Antonio and is excited to contribute her skills to the local community.
