This weekend we honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by offering opportunities for us to learn about, and engage in, the issue of racism. Beginning with this Sunday's sermon by Dr. Catherine Meeks, we learn how each of us can listen for God's call. Please take a look at our events for this weekend below.

COFFEE HOUR CONVERSATION

Our coffee hour conversation will feature Dain and Constance Perry who have facilitated more than 500 conversations on racial healing in Episcopal churches across the countryThis conversation will prepare us for a screening of "Traces of the Trade" on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 18, at 1pm on Zoom.
TRACES OF THE TRADE
Monday, January 18, 1 pm
Join us for a screening of "Traces of the Trade" on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Zoom. This documentary follows the story of the DeWolf family, the foremost slave trading family in the Northeast during the 18th and 19th centuries. Dain Perry is a descendant of the DeWolf family. EPIPHANY DRIVE-IN MOVIE
RESCHEDULED for Sunday, January 24, 5:00 pm
Let’s celebrate Epiphany under the stars for an exclusive viewing of Sony Pictures Animation’s “THE STAR” at Doc’s Drive-In Theatre for our parishioners. The cost is $25 per car. Free unlimited popcorn for all. The kitchen and bar will remain open for food orders during the event. Arrive at 5:00 pm for pre-show entertainment and the movie will begin at sundown. GOING THE SOCIAL DISTANCE

We are partnering with Rise Against Hunger to IMAGINE a world free from hunger and challenge Good Shepherd parishioners to move a combined total of 2,802 miles—the distance across the continental U.S.— to help raise awareness about hunger. ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
January 31
Learn more about the breadth of the parish's ministries on our two campuses, meet our new vestry class and wardens, and hear from our two schools. If you're planning to be there, we invite you to register in advance in order to vote during the meeting. You can register by clicking here. At the beginning of the meeting, we will conduct a vote allowing for a virtual meeting. Once you register, we'll send you more information and instructions. We hope you'll join us immediately following the Sunday, January 31 service.

VIRTUAL WOMEN'S RETREAT: WE MAKE A WAY: FINDING FULLNESS IN THE DESERT

Fran McKendree will be with us once again sharing his presence and music. The Rev. Mary Earle will share her wisdom from the Desert Mothers. Yes, it will feel very different this year, but we will set aside the time to gather in that holy space that we have shared together for the past several years. Mark your calendars for Feb. 19 -20.
