PARISH NEWS AND UPDATES
GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY, MAY 3, 2020

Dear Friends,

This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday—a day we pray for Vocation. Let me, however, focus our reflection on a powerful symbol, which Jesus describes in today’s Gospel: the image of a gate or door.

During this time when Santa Clara County has extended the Shelter-In-Place, there’s one image we can connect ourselves with. It is the image of being a gate. Gates and doors stand as barriers. They serve as protection, but they can also be obstacles which keep us apart from one another. Sometimes our door stands open to others. Sometimes it is shut out of fear or a need for privacy. Gates and doors define the boundary on who is inside and outside. Gates and doors provide protection and shelter. They are the means for going in and going out. During this shelter-in place time, it is good to remember, that some limitations/gates placed before us are for the greater good.

We talk a lot about social distancing. However an article that I read provides a different perspective to re-frame how we look at this very unique period. The author talks about Distant Socializing . The author has some keen insights into how to survive during SIP – ways to help ourselves and perhaps others as well. We hope you find the information useful.

We struggle sometimes with acceptance of the situation, but we cannot change it. Each of us can however, modify our behavior and be a light of hope to family, community and others through encouragement, prayer, and reaching out where one is able to help.

Please take good care of yourself. Keep up the faith, spirit and share the love. We will get through this by God’s grace. Please continue to pray for us, our country and our world. If the parish or I can do anything for you, please feel free to email me.

Praying for all of you and requesting your prayers,

Fr. Saju Joseph

POPE FRANCIS INVITES TO PRAY THE ROSARY AT HOME IN MAY
Month of May is a time when the People of God express with particular intensity their love and devotion for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is traditional in this month to pray the Rosary at home within the family. The restrictions of the pandemic have made us come to appreciate all the more this “family” aspect, also from a spiritual point of view.
For this reason, Pope Francis encourages everyone to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home in the month of May. This can be done either as a group or individually; you can decide according to your own situations, making the most of both opportunities. The key to doing this is always simplicity, and it is easy also on the internet to find good models of prayers to follow

MOTHER'S DAY PRAYER AND BLESSING
Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect. Grant this through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.

Confessions

Confessions are scheduled by appointment.

Please call the parish office and leave a message for Fr. Saju or Fr. Gener. They will call you back promptly to schedule an appointment and will explain the protocol followed.
