Thank You!

This spring, we packaged 10,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger. Our 10,000 meals have been shipped in a container with a total of 285,120 meals from the Rise Against Hunger Richmond warehouse. The meals will be received by their in-country partner, ORPHANetwork in Nicaragua.

Thank you for making a difference.

Adult ESL and Student Tutoring Ministry

Each Monday that school is in session, all of our classroom spaces are filled with children in our Adult ESL and Student Tutoring Program. We meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We begin on Sept. 12.

Ideally, each student is paired with a volunteer, but sometimes you'll have more than one student. Our students are divided into different Sunday School classrooms - K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and middle/high school students. We also have a nursery available with a paid caretaker for those 4 years and younger. ESL for Adults is offered at the same time as Tutoring for students.

If you are new to volunteering with the Tutoring and ESL Ministry, you are welcome to shadow a current volunteer until you are comfortable working one on one.

To ensure that we have enough volunteers for this ministry, please sign-up hereThis is a mission opportunity where you can serve once, twice, or as many weeks as you are able. A background check is required. Click here for the form.

Contact Valerie Robnolt for more information.

Opportunities to Gather

Current Worship Series

Exodus

The Prophet, The Plight, The Plague, and The Passover

You know how the story ends! You can see the people coming through the splitting of the Red Sea into freedom as they enter the Promised Land. A new nation, set apart, formed as the priesthood of believers.  But where did they come from, and why is it important to us today? This is an origin story that introduces the People of Israel, the people of God before they were free.  Over the next four weeks, we’re going to learn about the Prophet, the Plight, The Plague, and The Passover as we enter Exodus: the Prequel.

Worship Participant Check-In and Prayer Requests

Opportunities to Grow

Register for Fall Groups

Life is better in small groups! Good Shepherd recognizes that everyone is on a unique spiritual journey. With this in mind, we offer various adult classes and small groups that offer Christ-centered spiritual growth and encouragement for every season of our lives to deepen our relationship with God.

Our adult ministries will be offering new opportunities this fall. There are groups for study, fellowship, and fun! Learn more and register below. Contact Rev. Lisa for more information. Registration will also be available after worship services.

Contact Pat Hinkins or Debora Honodel for more information.

Young Adult Women Group

All Young Adult Women (ages (18-28ish) are invited to a small group interest gathering on Thurs. Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. at Mexico Nuevo at Cross Ridge. The group will be facilitated by Emily Hewett. Contact Mark Nedervelt or call 804.339.2731 to register.

Parents, please share with your and other young adult women.

Praise God through Music

Handbell and Choir Practice Begins Sept. 7

Music is an integral part of not only our worship liturgy, but it is also a way that you can offer praise to God. If you like to lift up your voice in song, consider joining the Celebration Choir. Our Celebration Choir leads us in worship and during special seasons such as Advent and Holy Week. Our Handbell Choir plays several times a year and during special seasons.

Prior singing or handbell experience is unnecessary; all you need is a heart willing to sing a joyful noise unto the Lord. A bonus benefit is getting to know new people.

Handbell Choir practice is Wed. from 6-7 p.m., and Choir practice is from 7-8 p.m. beginning Sept. 7. Contact Director of Music Ministries Lindy Moore  for more information

Ways to Connect

  • One way we can get to know each other on Sunday during worship is by wearing a nametag. If you have requested a nametag, they are located outside the entrance doors. Need a nametag? Contact Karen Albro or sign-up for one on Sunday. We will have nametag stickers available on Sunday.
