Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants

By Robin Wall Kimmerer

Kimmerer is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology, and the founder and

director of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment. Her book, Braiding Sweetgrass, has

become an international bestseller. If you've read it already, you know why. If (like Imogen) you haven't

read it yet, perhaps this is your chance. “Robin Wall Kimmerer encourages readers to consider the ways

that our lives and language weave through the natural world... to illustrate the culture of gratitude in

which we all should live.” (Publishers Weekly).

Mission Trip Recap!

What an unforgettable week in Burnsville, NC

Twelve of our amazing EYC high schoolers and seven dedicated adults came together to put on a roof and build a deck for the future home of Linda Peterson, whose house was lost in the flooding from Hurricane Helene. The group arrived on Sunday, July 20 and returned home on Friday evening, July 25.

We worked hard, laughed harder, and made lifelong memories — from evening adventures in Asheville (escape room champs! ) to bonding with our new Baptist friends, especially Chris Lewis, our fearless foreman from Roach, MO.

We are so grateful for this time of service, fellowship, and doing God’s work together.  The EYC is already counting down to next year’s mission trip!
