A Note about Worship This Sunday
This coming weekend we have some special worship offerings at Good Shepherd. Our Diocesan Intern, Brett MacDonald, will be preaching at both services, and at the 10:15 AM service the Rev. Cathy Deats will be our celebrant.
At the 8 AM service on Sunday, Brett will be leading Morning Prayer. This is a wonderful lay-led liturgy that Brett will be offering on weekday mornings during his time with us (more information will be forthcoming).
If you are interested or excited to reacquaint yourself with Morning Prayer, we invite you to join us at 8 AM.
If you are most excited to receive the Holy Eucharist, please plan to attend the 10:15 AM service.

Friar's Corner
A prayer for those tragically impacted by the floods in Texas:
God of this moment, when the water has taken too much and the silence feels heavy, be near. For those who are grieving, bring steady breath. For those still searching, bring strength that holds. For all of us, bring the kind of courage that stays when answers do not come. Help us face what is here and what is still unknown. Be in the waiting. Be in the heartbreak. Be in the hands that hold each other now. We need you. Amen.
(Adapted from the New Zealand Prayer Book)
Thank you!

Support for the Unhoused: Join us July 12
Church of the Good Shepherd members, picture here, joined other non-partisan ONE Wake members last Thursday to bless land in Cary and Raleigh for affordable housing. It will be developed by the Homeownership for Equity Campaign.
A similar outpouring of Good Shepherd folks is needed at the Accountability Action assembly which is scheduled for this Saturday, July 12 at Watts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3703 Tryon Rd. At this session local and state officials will be questioned on their further commitments to affordable housing funding and land development. There is a goal of 1000 participants Saturday to demonstrate continued advocacy for the unhoused.
Good Shepherd needs to continue our energy for advocating for the less fortunate by our turn out. Your presence will show our support for helping the unhoused. - Jeff Whitaker, 919-696-1612 (Textable)

We Are Hiring!

The director will oversee all children’s curricula, programs, and activities, recruit and develop a team of engaged volunteers, and foster meaningful connections with the children and families of the parish. They will create a welcoming and nurturing environment and provide opportunities for children and families to grow in their love and knowledge of God, their call to serve others, and their unique significance in the life of the parish and the world.

You're Invited! Voice Recital - July 17
Jared Hernandez cordially invites you and your family and friends to enjoy A Concert Evening Voice Recital at The Church of the Good Shepherd on Wednesday evening, July 17 at 7PM. Doors open at 6:30.
A Note from Jared:
Hello Good Shepherd Family! Many of you may not know that Ms. Jennifer Seiger, who is also a lasting member of the choir and the church, has been my voice teacher for over 3 years. On Wednesday July 16th from 7 to 8 PM I am offering a concert to commemorate my time with her, along with only some of the music I've had the privilege of learning with her. She is my guest of honor for the night and will be there, and we will both share a duet early in the program, but the rest of the concert is just me. Come ready to expect different genres and styles, and a whole bunch of storytelling. Anyone who would enjoy this event is welcome, as are any plus one's or two's of your company. I hope to see you there! Love, Jared

Icons of Divine Mystery: Disability, the Imago Dei, and the Church’s Call to Slow Love
What does it mean to love our neighbor as ourselves when that neighbor’s body or mind challenges our assumptions about what is “normal” or “complete”? July is Disability Pride Month and it invites us to consider this question. In response, I’d invite us to see disability not as a problem to be solved, but as a theological gift that helps the Church glimpse the mystery of God.

Bible Amnesty – August 3 & 10
This summer, Good Shepherd’s Newcomers Committee is offering a new series called Bible Amnesty. We have invited a select panel of our resident Bible scholars to answer all the questions about Holy Scripture that you’ve always been too afraid to ask. Bible Amnesty will be held in the Ennis Suite at 11:30 AM on August 3 and 10. This event is designed for newcomers but all are welcome to attend.
If you would like to submit a question in advance, place a card in the question box located in the hallway leading into the sanctuary. These cards can be signed or submitted anonymously. You can also email questions to Rev. Justin. Stupid questions are not only permitted, they’re encouraged!
