Stations of the Cross- Fridays at noon

On Fridays in Lent, Richard Netherby will be leading walking meditations through the Stations of the Cross. All those interested in deepening their experience of this Holy Season are invited to join him in the sanctuary at noon each week for prayer and the silent contemplation of the Passion. Please meet Richard at the front of the church on Fridays.

Adult Formation in Lent


  • On each of the six Sundays in Lent, Susan Lewellen will offer a series of classes on Contemplative Prayer at 9 AM in the Ennis Suite. During each session, Susan will discuss the history, meaning, and benefits of this ancient practice as well as leading prayer sessions. All are welcome to attend. Lenten Supper- Thursday at 6 PM


You are invited to join us in Shepherds Hall each Thursday in Lent for a meal and fellowship time. We will also have a brief study each week that focuses on Bishop Mariann Budde’s work entitled The Lost Art of Kindness: Civility as a Christian Practice


The Lenten Suppers will be held from 6 pm to 7:30 PM on March 13, March 20, March 27, April 3, and April 10. We'll send out a new RSVP form each week.


All of the suppers will be covered dish! So get creative and share some of your favorite recipes with us.

Newcomers Reception

There will be a Newcomers Reception at the home of Will and Christie Barbee from 4-6pm on Saturday, April 5. The Barbees are longtime members of Good Shepherd who have a condo in the Quorum Center which is located on W. Jones Street in downtown Raleigh. This purely social affair will be an excellent opportunity for you to get to some of your fellow parishioners in a friendly, casual setting. There will be drinks, hors d'oeuvres, gorgeous views, and plenty of great conversation. I hope to see you there.

Join Habitat for Humanity of Wake County in building homes and hope this spring! We have two exciting opportunities for you to get involved.


Beloved Build: Townhome Construction Begins March 29th

Construction on townhomes at Old Poole Place kicks off this Saturday, March 29th, and Habitat has requested a few more volunteers for this initial workday. Wall Raising on Old Poole Place: April 26th

Mark your calendars for April 26th! We're seeking enthusiastic volunteers to participate in a wall build and raising event for a single-family home on Old Poole Place. This is a fantastic chance to contribute directly to providing affordable housing in our community. ReNew Hope Donation Drive - March 23 - May 1

The Outreach Committee is excited to announce a spring donation drive supporting ReNew Mobile Showers, leading up to a community outreach event in Moore Square on May 1st!


We're partnering with ReNew Mobile Showers to help replenish essential hygiene supplies for their important work in our community. They provide warm showers, laundry services, and hygiene kits to those experiencing homelessness, hardships, or emergencies. To learn more about ReNew visit here.


Will be collecting these much-needed items through May 1 (see list below). Your generosity will directly contribute to restoring dignity and providing essential care.

ONE Wake Update

Thanks to those of you who attended the meeting at St. Ambrose recently.


After celebrating the work accomplished in 2024 ($10 million in affordable housing and transportation wins), we are looking forward to participating in actions in 2025.


ONE Wake needs us to commit Good Shepherd folks to attend the following actions:

  • April 3-5 (Thurs.-Sat.): Three-day (all day) Leadership Training
  • April 10 (Thursday): 6:30pm, Cary Council Meeting in support of changing zoning for the Greenwood Forest Housing Project. Greenwood Forest Baptist is donating one-half of its property for this on-site housing project.
  • May 17 (Sat.) 9:00am - noon, Strategy Session on Affordable Housing.
  • July 12 (Sat.) Noon - accountability action with the Raleigh City Council, and statewide and local reps.

Volunteer Opportunity


Each week Lowe's Foods on Strickland Road donates baked goods to the Shepherd's Table. And we need volunteers to pick up these donations and get them to the soup kitchen. Our wonderful volunteers sign up to cover one month at a time, covering each Sunday of that month. The commitment entails picking up the items after 10:15 AM on Sundays and then delivering them to the soup kitchen before 12:00 PM This year we have the following months available: April, May, October and November. To help us with this wonderful ministry, please contact Paula Andrews or call 919.880.5701. 

Battery Recycling Project 

The Green Team is collecting batteries in the Parish Life Center lobby to dispose of them properly. Since November we have collected 146 pounds of batteries! If you have questions about the Battery Recycling Project, please contact Beth Hahn. The collection box will remain in the lobby but we will not post reminders every week after this. Thank you and keep up the good work!
