Top Of Mind

Coming This Sunday

In addition to our worship services at 8 and 10:15 AM this Sunday, the following events and activities are taking place:

9 AM

  • Sunday School (for kids 4-12 yo)

During September we will experience music, stories, and art as we explore The Promises of God. Contact: Rev. Hershey

  • Adult Formation

Reencountering The Sermon on the Mount: What is it, how have Christians found meaning from it, and why is it worth talking about today? Using Dale Allison’s work as a guide offers a chance to learn, listen and process in community. This series is led by Jon Stoddard and meets in the Ennis Suite. (Please note: this series is a joint offering with the Sunday morning Adult Bible Study.)

  • September 29th: "Walking the Talk" and Social Justice

Jesus’s teachings in Matthew 6 and 7 outline behavior and social justice concerns. We’ll tackle these topics while wrapping up the Sermon on the Mount.

11:30 AM

  • Fellowship Time

Enjoy fellowship and refreshments after the 10:15 worship service.

5:30-7:30 PM

Caring for God's Creation

Supporting Second Chance Pet Adoptions

Through October 6th, we are collecting supplies to benefit animals lovingly cared for by Second Chance Pet Adoptions while they wait for their forever homes.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions has requested:

  • non-scented cat litter
  • pill pocket treats
  • super-chewer toys
  • large and extra-large Kong's
  • hand soap
  • bleach & paper towels

You will find a collection bin for your donations in the Parish Life Center Lobby. Donated items will be picked up by Second Chance on October 6th following our Blessing of the Animals. Thank you for your generosity! Contact: David Baggett (919.831.2018)

Our Annual Giving Campaign Begins October 6 and Ends on Commitment Sunday October 27

What Is Episcopal Stewardship?

Our response to God's generosity in the way we share our resources of time, talent, and money. Stewardship reflects our commitment to making God's love known through the realities of human life and our use of all that God has given us. It is also our service to God's world and our care of creation. Parish members are encouraged to make an annual gift. This financial commitment is our specific Christian commitment to “work, pray, and give for the spread of the kingdom of God” (BCP, p. 856).

Save the Date...October 6th!

Blessing of the Animals

  • When: Sunday, October 6th at 4 PM
  • Where: Capitol Square (Morgan Street Lawn)

Don't miss this parish favorite! Bring your beloved pets (leashed or crated, please). Stuffed animals are welcome, too!

Can You Help with a Special Ministry?

Beginning the first Monday in October, we need volunteers to take a Monday each month to break down the altar flowers for pastoral care vases that get delivered on Mondays.  It can be done on Sunday after the 10:15 service or Monday mornings by 11. It takes about 2 hours training is available. It would be ideal to have a specific person identified for each of the 4-5 Mondays of the month, with substitutes. Please contact Judi Mathis (919.779.2260) if you can commit to one Monday each month. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!

Needed! Sunday Fellowship Hosts for Fall

Can you provide snacks for after the 10:15 service this fall? We’re currently looking for hosts for September 29 and October 13, 20 and 27. Hosting is really easy and very much appreciated by everyone — and extra fun if you do it with a friend or family member! You may sign up for an open Sunday by CLICKING HERE. Please contact Grace Sved (919.247.6426) if you have questions or would like more information. Thank you!

Parish Life

A Culture of Care, A Culture of Love

Occasionally, life throws us curve balls, no doubt about it! Whether it's COVID, a pulled back, a sprained ankle, or a stomach bug, there are occasions when we could use a little help--maybe a friendly ear, a prayer, or a gallon of milk--none of us should feel timid to ask for some assistance from our parish family. After all, that's what families are for!

If you ever find yourself in need, please don't hesitate to contact the Parish Office (919.831.2000), Monday-Thursday, 9-5. Of course, for pastoral emergencies, please call the Pastoral Care Support Line 919.831.2008 anytime. This phone number is monitored by the clergy.
