FAITHFUL UTTERANCES
Watching for Wisdom
By Dr. Froswa Booker-Drew

In the last few years, the emergence of experts on social media is staggering. There are so many self-proclaimed gurus who have not mastered their subject matter very well in their personal lives but are committed to sharing with others how they should. It’s one thing to teach people from what you have done or from your mistakes, it’sanother thing to tell people to follow a path that you have not been successful in completing. For instance, I will never tell anyone how to become a carpenter.

When you hear and see Russian President Vladimir Putin’s name in media and on the Web these days, he frequently is described as evil. For instance: Author Bill Browder during TV interview about Freezing Order, his true story book about Putin’s exploits: “This guy is just evil…It’s hard for us to understand …this is evil on a level that’s just incomprehensible.”

Eddie Bernice Johnson: Jane Hamilton’s attacks on Jasmine Crockett are
Trump-style lies

Hamilton, who’s running to replace the Dallas Democrat in Congress, defended the comments about her rival.

U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson on Thursday accused Jane Hope Hamilton of using deceptive, Trump-style campaign tactics against state Rep. Jasmine Crockett, whom Johnson has endorsed to replace her in Congress. “We have not had a campaign that has had this much deception and lies in District 30,” Johnson said during a news conference at the African American Museum in Dallas, which Crockett did not attend.

Teacher of the Year Honorees Selected

(DESOTO, TX) — DeSoto ISD is pleased to announce its 2022 Teacher of the Year honorees! Representing all 10 campuses throughout the District, educators were selected by their schools for this annual and distinctive honor.

“These teachers were selected by their campuses, their peers,” DeSoto ISD Chief of Human Capital Management Dr. Violet Dean said. “They exemplify excellent teaching, their students and themselves; they give back to the community. There’s criteria set by the district, the campuses vote and they determine which one from the campus will become the campus Teacher of the Year.”

After being initially notified by Dr. Dean, each honoree was later recognized by a surprise Teacher of the Year Prize Patrol on their respective campuses. The caravan of district leaders flooded classrooms and offices with gifts, balloons, signs and cheer in celebration.
