Brookings County Mental Health Coalition

Join the Movement for Mental Wellness in Brookings County!


The Brookings County Mental Health Coalition (BCMHC) is seeking passionate community members and partners to join our efforts in strengthening mental health awareness, prevention, and support across Brookings County.


Upcoming coalition business meeting is April 15th from 12–1 PM, at Brookings Area United Way (908 Hope Drive).


Anyone interested in joining the coalition is welcome to attend the April meeting, or email United Way to be added to the BCMHC member contact list.



2026 Stronger Together Event Report


In February, Brookings Area United Way in partnership with the Brookings County Mental Health Coalition, brought our community together for the 2026 Stronger Together event that focused on suicide prevention, collaboration, and strengthening local response. Read the report below!

Brookings Communities That Care (CTC)

Turning Planning into Action!


The CTC Board is is gearing up to turn planning into action over the next few months! The board has re-evaluated workgroups and is starting the first stages of implementation!


As final edits to the newly developed action plan are underway, board members will be advancing two key focus areas in partnership with community stakeholders. Efforts with the local youth mentoring program will center on strengthening mentoring opportunities, increasing mentor recruitment, and enhancing local business engagement. Separately, in collaboration with the school district, work will continue to strengthen youth culture and expand community education around Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in local schools.

The Brookings Resilient Communities Coalition is hosting Lost & Found for May Mental Health Awareness Month to provide a virtual webinar on building positive mental health and resilience in all domains of your life.

Brookings Council of Nonprofits (BCNP)

March Coffee Social Recap!


On March 23rd, BCNP gathered with, community members, new nonprofits, and local government and businesses for a coffee social to network and learn more about each other and network!


The featured nonprofit was the Brookings Regional Humane Society who provided info on their history, updates on their local campaign for building a future facility, and exciting upcoming events to check out and support some furry friends!
