Care Day at Atlanta Children's Shelter
On June 24, David Weekley Homes and BOMA Georgia joined HomeAid Atlanta for a Care Day at Atlanta Children’s Shelter (ACS). Volunteers made improvements throughout the facility including painting three offices, organizing a donations closet, rebuilding a food pantry, assembling and installing a new toy shed for the playground, and much more!

Thank you to our hardworking volunteers for spending the day with us at ACS! Your efforts made a big impact and provided money-saving support so that ACS can focus on providing family services, including day care, to homeless families with young children under the age of five.
Who HomeAid Helps

Thanks to the work of volunteers and donations of building materials, HomeAid Care Days provide financial savings on maintenance and repair projects at nonprofits serving families experiencing homelessness. HomeAid Atlanta's June 24 Care Day at Atlanta Children's Shelter (ACS) provided much-needed assistance with tasks on ACS's to-do list. ACS has a mission to break the cycle of poverty for families facing homelessness by building pathways to long-term self-sufficiency, and providing quality early childhood education.

Chiquita and her husband Terry came to ACS after Chiquita had been out of work for several months due to medical issues and Terry had recently lost his job. The bills piled up leading to an eviction. At ACS, they received services including free early childcare, career assistance with the Hire Up Employment Program, financial assistance for housing, and life skills counseling. With the extra support, Chiquita enrolled in college at Gwinnett Tech and Terry earned his CDL license at Georgia Piedmont Tech and started working in the trucking industry. Terry was able to purchase his own truck and plans to start his own business.

HomeAid is proud to support the life-changing work of ACS and the families they serve. In addition to the recent Care Day, HomeAid has also supported ACS through the annual Essentials Drive for many years. Watch the video below to learn more about the transformative work happening at ACS.
Hope & Homes Virtual 5K: Thank You!
Thanks to everyone who supported the Second Annual Hope & Homes Virtual 5K! We had walkers and runners from the metro Atlanta area and beyond, as well as Nebraska and Ohio! Because of our race participants, sponsors, and donors, the Second Annual Hope & Homes Virtual 5K raised over $4,000 in support for HomeAid's work to build a future without homelessness. A huge shoutout to Taylor Morrison Atlanta, the top fundraising team, who raised over $1,100 for HomeAid!

Under Construction
Work continues at HomeAid's ten-bedroom home at Gigi's House (above), where a water pump was recently installed. HomeAid is proud to support the work of Gigi's House in Clayton County, which serves girls ages 13-19 who are victims of sex trafficking, providing a safe home in a faith-based, loving environment.

Sheltering Grace Ministry provides shelter and guidance for expectant mothers experiencing homelessness in metro Atlanta. Paran Homes volunteers updated this kitchen (left) at one of Sheltering Grace’s locations. They repaired subfloor and installed new flooring, replaced crumbling countertops, and more.
