From Rev. Carol…

I will be on vacation from June 27th through July 31st. During that time, please direct any questions or concerns to Andrea Kaiser, Board Chair. The first two weeks I’ll will on Study Leave; time devoted to planning for the new church year. I will resume my regular schedule on August 15th. I will be available for meetings and appointments after that time. My first Sunday back “in the pulpit” will be September 12th for our annual Water Communion. Don’t forget to collect a little water from a special place this summer and enjoy these precious summer days.

Good Things are Happening in our Northshore Church Garden

Last week Iain Goddard and Susan Haas were joined by Rev. Pam Cochrane and Karen Kilty from the Maple Street Church. In spite of the hot weather, we were able to harvest garlic and potatoes. Tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini are thriving as well as beets.

We found out the crab grass thrives in the heat, so there was lots of weeding to do. Save that cardboard for us! We are now putting it down between the rows to keep the weeds in check....and it works.

We will be planting our fall seeds in the next few weeks for a second crop. Such fun!

We hope you are all enjoying the summer months and taking the time to refresh and rejuvenate.

Potluck Meeting a Success

Social Action and Green Sanctuary members plus a number of other church folks combined efforts to entertain a summer potluck event (complete with fire) in collaboration with UU Mass Action Northeast Regional team on July 14. We look forward to continuing our relationship with this group as they lead us in important social actions about climate agenda, indigenous peoples’ rights, immigration reform and many other issues.

Join Us

The Social Action Committee is always looking for more people to join us. We will be having our first planning meeting for the new church year on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 6:30 pm via zoom. Join or come and take a peek. Please contact Cheryl Ferris: cbferris@gmail.com or 978-660-7104

From Chris Ruggles

My Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) ride this weekend

The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, $767 million since 1980 and $50 million in 2020 alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.

I've made a personal commitment to ride PMC 2022 and raise $6,000.00. I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal. I'll be riding from Sturbridge to Provincetown to raise money for The Dana Farber Institute this weekend.

We all know people whose lives have been improved through the research conducted at The Dana-Farber Institute. I'm riding in memory of the many friends, and family members the Dana-Farber has helped.

Please give as you are able. Every donation brings us closer by the mile.

Thank you,

Chris Ruggles
