SAVE and SHARE THE DATE for our AUGUST 6th Sunday Service!

Sunday Service

August 6, 2023

10:30 A.M.

Join us in the sanctuary or "Rise Up Singing"

You are welcome to INVITE a friend to our August 6th Sunday Service! We will be celebrating the strength in YOUR Community. You can expect music, sharing, poetry, some hands-on art activities and light refreshments. And yes, a not-to-be-missed art show!

Who is a person of strength in YOUR community? This is an opportunity to invite someone with whom you share a special interest, for example: a walking buddy, a garden club, a knitting or quilt-making group, artist co-op, a book club, and more. The connections are as individual as we are!

So, put on your thinking cap, mark your calendar, make calls now, and know there is no limit to the number of folks you may invite!

Sent in the spirit of joy for our Beloved Community

SUMMER CIRCLES SERVICES AT NSUU - 2023

For the summer we are gathering in “Summer Circles.” Circles are designed to be an abbreviated church service, centered around a group discussion on a topic of the presenter’s choice. Below is a listing of the Summer Circles.

AUGUST 6

Facilitator: Marty Langlois

Title: Community Means Strength

Description: The poet John O'Donohue wrote, "Perhaps community is a constellation. Each one of us is a different light in the emerging collective brightness. A constellation of light has greater power of illumination than any single light would have on its own. Together we increase brightness." Come explore the reach of community. And...consider bringing along someone new to the church from one of your own communities.

AUGUST 13

Facilitators: Judy Putnam and Terri Hansen

Title: Hymn Sing

Description:  Come and lift your voices and hearts as we sing some of our very favorite hymns. There's an old saying: Those who sing pray twice. We'll sing our hearts out on the old familiar hymns and even take requests for your own favorites.

AUGUST 20

Facilitator:  Jeri Kroll

Title: Is Tolerance Acceptable and is Acceptance Enough?

Description: This morning we will look at a Tolerance-Acceptance-Love continuum and its opposite an Defiance-Disapproval-Tolerance continuum. We will consider what this means about our understanding of tolerance and question how we choose to be in relationship with ourselves, with each other and in life situations.

AUGUST 27

Facilitator: Jennifer Revill

Title: The Call to Workship: Unlocking the Spirituality of Work

Description: Does work drain your soul? Is it possible to live out your spirituality in the places you work? Let's share some of our own personal and communal spiritual experiences from the past and present, and explore some practices that may help create a more humane and vital quality of life at work - whatever it is we do.

From the Administrator...

Our Sexton will be away recuperating from knee surgery until November. We wish Jeff a speedy recovery! In his absence, we have hired someone to take care of cleaning the church, however they will not be setting the chairs and preparing the sanctuary for Sunday services.

Beginning in September we will be looking for volunteers to set up the sanctuary for Sunday services until Jeff returns. More information about volunteer sign-ups and set-up instructions to follow...

Our 8th annual 100-Mile Potluck Picnic will be held at the church, 323 Locust St, Danvers, on Saturday Sept. 23. Bring food and drink sourced from within 100 miles of Danvers (more or less), and we'll have a delicious and fascinating experience. Plus, jolly company.
