Art Show by PaperwOrrk in our Meeting Room Gallery

March 4 through April 30, 2023

Reception on April 30th from 12 noon to 2:00 P.M.

Event is free and open to the public

Brian, Ailene, and Theresa Orr, also known as PaperwOrrk, are a father/daughter team who create colorful art pieces out of handmade Lokta paper and recycled materials such as newspaper, cabinet doors, windows and more. They sketch the picture and then use bright papers to ‘color' their drawings, consulting on one another’s work in the process. During the day, Brian is a pediatrician, Ailene is a bilingual teacher and Theresa is a clinical social worker. They have history with various art modalities including sketch, painting, clay, and glass work and love this new artistic direction.

"Ordinary Suffering"

Rev. Carol Strecker Speaking

Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week in the Christian tradition. The story of Jesus suffering, death and burial makes suffering extraordinary; that in dying he took on the suffering of the world. But pain and suffering are a very ordinary part of the human condition. Each of us carries the pain of the world in our hearts. Suffering is part of being human. There is nothing redemptive about it but it does have the power to connect us with one another.
